    3. Dianne, The party is to be next Saturday as far as I know. I am not hosting it. I have been told that the motel in Manchester is fully booked with people wh o are coming to the party. I will be there as a guest same as everyone else. However, I will be selling THE LIFE AND TRIAL OF DR. ABNER BAKER, a very interesting book about the first trouble between the Bakers and the Whites. The price of the book is $20.00 plus $5.00 mailing. JESS WILSON 794 POSSUM TROT ROAD MANCHESTER KY 40962 You may order from me by e-mail and return your check or money order with the SASE that I include with the book. I trust you if you trust me when I say that it is a very interesting book that required a grest amount of work to retype as will be attested by the wonderful person that retyped it. Her story is worth something as you will see when you read the preface. You can also order the book from the CLAY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY POST OFFICE BOX 394 MANCHESTER KY40962 Same terms by mail. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DIANNEPARKHURST@aol.com> To: <KYCLAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 20, 2003 7:20 PM Subject: [KYCLAY] Boston Baker Birthday > Hey Jess Wilson > Is the Boston Bob Baker Birthday Party at Possum Trot still on for next > weekend, Sat June 28? 3. Several years ago I knew Thelma and Elmer Sizemore fairly well and last saw them in June 2002. They have a son, Roy, and a daughter, Velma, who is married to Phil Julian. Roy and his wife, Sheila, are parents of Joey and Jason. Velma's son is Christopher Robinson. There could be more children in the family that I don't know about. 3. There seems to be enough interest so I have called both the library and Union College. It looks as if Union College will be the better of the two choices for holding a Genealogy exchange. I have been told they can get us a copier. I don't know if we will have to pay for copies, there may be some fee involved. I will find out more on Monday when I speak with the person who will actually book the room for us. Here is what I need to find out. 1. Is July or August Better? 2. If we can not get the room on a Saturday will Friday work? Saturday is my first choice I don't think they rent the room on Sundays. 3. Morning / Afternoon / or all day? Please respond to my e-mail address at foe3643@mac.com the sooner the better as I want to set up plans on Monday. Thanks, Cassy. -- Please check out my new free genealogy site. I am currently looking for others willing to share their photographs as well. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~foe3643/

    3. Linda, Those deeds will be at the Clay County Court Clerk's Office in Manchester. These are alphabetized and are listed by GRANTOR (person selling) and by GRANTEE (person buying). This way you need to know only one of the two parties involved in the transaction. Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: LynM2T@aol.com To: KYCLAY-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, June 20, 2003 9:34 AM Subject: [KYCLAY] Stephen Smith Where can I get land deeds for the years 1940-1950? I'm on vacation with my father and we were talking about why he was never close to his Smith family side. My grandparents separated or divorced when he was a child and Grandma moved closer to her family with the three children. I guess Grandpa Smith tried to give the children to his family so he wouldn't pay support or something and Grandma's brother helped her in court. So they settled down for a while till Daniel Smith (s/o Stephen) and/or wife Vesta Baker Smith neede to sell some land that Grandma's name was on. Dad thinks it was Grandpa Arla Smith and Grandma had to sign away the children's rights to it or something. He isn't clear on it, Dad was about ten or so. Grandma's name was Clara Gray Smith. The land may have been in Mud Lick where they had lived. Grandma was living in PAces Creek by then. I know Grandpa bought a plot of land in PAces Creek after that but not sure of dates. At one time I heard the area was known as Gum Hill, and Grandpa was nicknamed Gumbelly becasue of his large stretching belly. Don't know if this was the land Daniel and Vesta had to sell or the plot he bought for Grandma and the kids. Dad was born in 1935 and I know Granma and Grandpa had remarried and lived in Ohio in 1960. Linda Smith
