KY, and died in Boxley, Newton Co., AR. He married (1) SUSAN WHITE. She was born 1812 in Clay Co. KY. He married (2) RHODA LUNSFORD 22 September 1841 in Clay Co., KY. (2) MARTHA RAINWATER. xi. JOHN ROBINSON, b. 1860. Information about this family is available from The Robinson Cousin Homestead (http://www.geocities.com/qatballou_laura/). So far I have not seen documentation for Edward's parents, but some descendants believe he was the son of Charles Robertson/Robinson b. 1788 iin NC, son of Julius and Sarah (Shelton) Robertson (for the family of Charles, see http://www.geocities.com/qatballou_laura/generation_five.htm#_Toc532309215) . If anyone has proof of this line, I'd love to see it. Sharon, I haven't found anything to indicate Lassiter Robertson's family is in any way connected to our line. Of course, this doesn't mean it's definitely not, just that I have never found a link. 1. Re: [KYCLAY] NEW BOOK ABOUT MIDDLESBORO AREA OUT SOON
    2. Thank you for sharing that link! This quote is what caught my eye: "and the first settler was Richard Davis whose home was utilized as a “Tavern” and his wife “Capn” Molly, was the cook". Now was "Capn" Molly the same person as Elizabeth Preston? Or is this another wife? Richard Davis and Elizabeth Preston were suppose to be the parents of Nancy and Sally Davis who were married to Dillon Asher. Now I am confused. Thanks, Nanette

    1. [KYCLAY] NEW BOOK ABOUT MIDDLESBORO AREA OUT SOON
    2. The Middlesboro Daily News has a story on the Front Page today about a new book written about Middlesboro and the area. In the story are sever things we have been talking about here on the Roots Web sites. Some surnames are Davis, Turner, Ball, Colson, and this is just from the story in the Newspaper. It tells about the book and where and when it might be available. Please read and enjoy a new book about our town. I have no connection to the book or the sale of the book. Just keeping everyone informed. Kay Goforth Adams, Middlesboro, KY http://www.middlesborodailynews.com/

    2. Hi Catherine, I think I owe you an e mail. I got a new computer & a new server & have been busy transferring from one computer to another before we disconnect the old one. I'll try & find your e mail. It may be next week. We are having company this weekend. Anyway, I don't have Bonds, it was Job, Woodard & Julia Broughton that I have. You were kin to Job through a daughter? Do you have his other children besides Woodard & the one in your line? Thanks, Guilda

    3. RESPONSE: I don't know exactly what this might prove but here is a listing from the 1895 Clay Co. School Census. The spelling is quite bad. School #43 done on 5-20-1894 STEART, Heney (probably Henry) responsible for: Silas, age 11 years and Nalinde , age 9, a female Joyce C. 1. [KYCLAY] Lasiter; Charles Robertson b 1788
    2. speel
    3. Edith, Thank you for replying to my message! I'm not sure where Lasiter lived; the 1840 census doesn't identify townships that I can tell. He isn't living too close to any of the other Robertsons -- just himself (30-40 years of age) and probably his wife (20-30 years of age). I HAVE found a Lassiter Robertson, named for his mother's maiden name. (Lassiter J Robertson b aft 1803, son of William S Robertson (son of Aaron) b 1773 NC and Susanna C Lassiter, married 1803 Boonsboro, KY). This Lassiter married a Lucy Ann, and both (J.L. age 42, Lucy Ann age 32) are show in Owsley Co, KY in 1850 with a 5 yr old son, George. This could be the same Lasiter -- the age range and children status fit -- they could have been in Clay County in 1840 and moved to Owsley Co in 1850. Anyway, it looks like we can probably eliminate Lasiter as being one of the direct descendants of Julius and Sarah (Shelton) Robertson? Edith, I'd appreciate any help you or any others on the list can give me. I'm trying really hard (once again) to identify my James Robertson b abt 1820 NC who was of age and living in Clay County by 1841 when he married Martha Patsy Benge. He fathered 3 children, Nancy, Elizabeth, and Benjamin (my gg grandfather) before he died in 1848. Martha married widower James "Bar Creek" Bowling and raised his children, her children, and their children. Since I'm not able to place James using microfilm or census records, I'm trying to do the improbable (I'm hoping not completely impossible) task of placing everyone else and finding the holes where James and his sister Matilda might fit. I've placed everyone I can on the 1840 census, and the logical choice to follow would be that James and Matilda were children of Charles Robertson and unknown spouse; Charles being the son of Julius Robertson and Sarah Shelton. Not a whole lot is know about this Charles or his children, and it is claimed that he is the Charles who married Mary Ann Yeager (2nd wife) 1840 Laurel Co, Ky. His will was probated in 1854 in Laurel Co, and he mentions 9 children and names one, Elisha who was born about 1824. It looks like he fathered 4 children by Mary Ann after their marriage in 1840. I would welcome (actually LOVE!) any comments, additions, or changes to Lassiter, James or Charles. Thanks, Sharon Robinson Peel Grandview, TX
