    1. [KYCLAY] Alford Collins and Sarah Campbell or Vaughn?
    2. Hi List Recently found an entry on the Owsley Co. KY web site birth records for Greenberry Collins, my great uncle. His parents are listed as Alford Collins and Sarah Campbell. In response to a query on the Owsley message board the Pres. of the Owsley Historical Society responded by saying that she had a record of an Alford Collins and a Sarah Vaughn marrying in Clay Co. KY. Alford's oldest son Charles would have been born in 1873 so the marriage would have happened approx. 1871/72. 1. Can anyone give me a lookup on this marriage to see which individual is the wife of Alford Collins and the date so I can request a copy of the marriage? It is possible that they are the same individual because on the 1880 census in Owsley Co. Sarah is listed as six years older than Alford. 2. How do I request a copy of this marriage record?                                          Jack McAnally                                          DeKalb, ILLINOIS

    1. [KYCLAY] I love for you to Read
    2. Dear Edith: Thank you for writing to me. I would love to find out if this is my family. Maybe you are my cousin!   If any of this looks familiar to you or your cousin I would love to know.  My gfather Richard Lewis Gilbert left Kentucky at a young age because his parents both died so he never shared much about them.  He became a prize fighter (Fighting Dick Gilbert) and was quite famous in his day.  He then worked for the movies in Los Angeles and is in many of the “Our Gang” - Little Rascels movies.  I was born and raised in Los Angeles.  I am 54 and have 4 children from 14 to 27 years old.   All I have about my ggmother is a picture of her in her casket and the name Sarah Elizabeth Tankersley Gilbert is written on the back.  She died when my grandfather Richard Lewis Gilbert was very young.   I found them on the 1880 census for Brush Creek, Knox County Kentucky.  This is before my gfather and his sister Opal were born.  Do you think this Sarah is your ggrandmothers sister Sarah E. Tankersley?  Her age seems to be correct.  I also found a marriage listing for Knox County Kentucky in 1864 but Tankersley is misspelled (Tankeshley) I have tried to find out if that is just an error when it was copied as the spelling doesn’t make sense and the back of her picture says Tankersley.   This is my grandfather’s family.  Have you ever heard any of these names?   1880 Census Brush Creek Knox Kentucky William H. (Bill) Gilbert and Sarah Gilbert C

So many times I for get to ask for pictures and I'm sure I miss a lot. Once I ask a cousin about certain pictures and she had only 1 and it turned out to be the clue to finding info on a whole family that I'd been searching for, for over 3 years, and was having no luck. It had some info written on the back that led to finding other info. Gene, thanks for offering your info., sorry I didn't ask. 2. I don't have a lot of info that far back, so don't see any connections but that is not saying there isn't any. My info back in that era at this point is mostly direct lineage. I will keep your info and maybe some day make a connection. Thank you ----------C. He married Sarah Carter. That is an unusual name, so, possibly, he may still be kin. I am going to keep this & it could lead to one of my George's. Thanks for being so helpful, Guilda

    2. Same line just different generations. Yes, William is the son of Samuel. Samuel is son of Ansel, Ansel is son of John, who is son of Anselm, who is son of James, who is son of Robert, then Isaac, then John, then William, then Richard and that is about as far back as anyone has searched.
