I'm looking for any information on Peter THOMPSON in Christian or Todd Co. He was born by 1765, place unknown, and died 1839/40 in Missouri. One historical secondary source says he was Danish, but family tradition says English. Peter shows up on the tax rolls of Christian Co. from 1797 to 1819. His land was in the watershed of the West Fork of Red River, so when Todd Co. was formed in 1820, Peter began appearing on the tax rolls of Todd Co. In 1827, Peter moved to Missouri, but his neighbor, Nathanial BURRUS, continued to pay Peter's taxes on the land through 1839 as his agent. In 1840 and 1845, Nathaniel pays the taxes as agent for "Peter THOMPSON heirs." The 1810 census shows Peter THOMPSON had at least eight children, but I know the names of only two: Thomas THOMPSON, b. 7 Jul 1797, who married in Christian Co. on 21 Dec 1815 to Delilah DAVIS, and Rachael THOMPSON, b. 17 Jul 1803, who married in Todd Co. on 19 Jan 1825 to William WYATT. They went to Missouri, too. Seeking the names of Peter's other children, his wife, and his parents, but any tid-bit of information greatly appreciated.
