At the Henderson County Research Center, we have copies of the 1850 and 1860 census records in book form. But we're confused. We want the Phelps Sasseen that marries Mary Towles in 1858 in Henderson County, KY and has a dau named Mary Towles Sasseen who was the originator of Mother's Day. On page 912, listing #385 shows William H. Sasseen age 45, farmer, b)KY Jno. P. Sasseen age 14, son, b)KY. However, on page 979, listing #834, it shows Jas. B. Sasseen age 43, blacksmith, b)KY Elizabeth age 41, wife, b)KY Jas. W. age 14, son, b)KY John P. age 13, son, b)KY Sims F. age 11, son, b)KY Sarah E. age 9, dau, b)KY Elvira A. age 6, dau, b)KY Geo. W. age 3, son, b)KY Any idea which would be correct? Since Phelps Sasseen shows up in the 1860 Christian Co. Census with wife Mary T. age 21, b)KY and dau Mary age 4 mos, b)KY, I'm leaning towards the first listing being correct. But having two Sasseen families with two sons named John P. being one year apart, who knows. Does anyone have the Sasseen bunch in their data base? Thanks!
