This is what I have found about the Williams and the Calvin Families of Christian Co. Job Calvin had a daughter, Sarah Calvin who married John Williams. Job, Sarah, and John came from SC so did the James Williams family. All of these families came to Christian Co from Newberry District South Carolina within the same time period. All but Sarah were mentioned many times in SC wills and deeds from Newberry. Job Calven, Sarah and John Williams and James's son Jesse Williams all went to Posey County Indiana about the same time period as well, along with some other families from Christian Co. One being the Price family. Some people in my family said John was Jesse's father but by doing a lot of census work I have determined that James NOT John did indeed have a son of Jesse Williams's age living with him in the 1810 census. Jesse Williams was born abt 1794 in South Carolina, where as John's oldest son, Daniel was born 1798. John Williams however did not have a child of Jesse's age living in his home in 1810. Jesse Williams and Gillison and Polly Price show up in the 1820 census for Posey Co. So does Job Calvin, John Williams and Sarah. John Williams Family 1810: Males under 10 =1 10-16= 1 26-45=1 Females: under 10 = 2 10-16= 1 26-45= 1 James Williams Family 1810: Males: under 10 = 2 (james jr and amos) 10-16 = 2 (stephen and alvin) 16-26 = 1 (jesse) 26-45 = 1 (james) Females: under 10 = 2 10-16 = 1 (polly) 26-45 = 2 (nancy west and ?) Jesse Williams married Nancy Caldwell in Posey County in 1819, Polly married Gillison Price in 1817 Christian Co. Jesse was surety for Polly at her wedding, who was in fact his sister. All of the people mentioned in this email all showed up in Posey between 1817 and 1819. Per notes I got from Mr. West: Reference page 2 of the Fern Williams documentation which stated that 'she had a book with the flyleaf gone, a sequel to English Reader'. On the inside of the front cover of this book the names of Amos, Alvin, James and Steven Williams (four sons) were written. This statement followed the names of the sons: "James Williams is my name, America is my nation, Christian County is my dwelling place, and Iieus (Jesus) my salvation". Inside the back cover of this book were the names, Stephen and Jesse Williams (again 2 sons, with Steven being named inside the front cover also); followed by the date 1824. Also on the inside back cover: 'Alvin, 7 Nov 1813 (interpreted to be Alvin's birthday). This referenced book did not document the sixth son, Warren; nor any of James and Nancy's daughters. I know Jesse was good friends of Gillison Price, not only did he marry his sister but he also named a son after him, Jordan Gillison Williams. Jordan was Nancy's mothers maiden name, Gillison after Gillison Price. Jesse's oldest son was James Caldwell Williams born abt. 1826, named after Nancy's father, James Caldwell. William Stephen Williams was born 1832, he is my direct line to Jesse Williams. The names James, William, Stephen, and Jesse are repeated many times in my family. I also know the oldest of Jesse's children was a daughter born in 1824, however I do not know her name. If anyone would like anything else on this family, I would be happy to share Feel free to email me at webmaster@williamsgenealogy.net Kristen Williams
