My middle name is Hiter, and my father was Hiter Dawson Melton, Jr. I escaped the III, but have been told that Hiter came from a contraction of Hightower (the last name of James, who was an indentured servant from Edinbugh - 1707 to Virginia, who's family was named Hite.) The family tree goes through Culpeper and Staunton, into West Virginia (Summers county) and my recent relatives to Milton and Huntington. Hugh and Eulee are first names I assumed to be my fathers uncle and/or aunt, living in western Virginia, if they are still alive. Could be cousins though.
