He married Mary Elizabeth Queen in 1872 in Haywood Co., NC(?). They had 7 children that I'm aware of. He was a brother to John M. Free. They were sons of James Free and Jane ?. John M. Free then was father to William Rhoton Free, who was my husband's great-grandfather. Does all this match with your information? If so, I'd love to hear from you!
