Census Joseph Cordier is listed as a merchant, born in France. His wife is Serena A. Brasher, married March 1847. I do not know of any direct connection to the Cavanaughs except they lived in the same general vicinity as the Whites and the Canavaughs. In the 1870 Christian Co. census Joseph Cavanaugh, age 22, single, is living in the Cordier home and listed as a blacksmith. In the 1880 Christian Co. census Joseph Cavanaugh, a blacksmith, is married to Martha A. White and they have four children. Six houses away is Martha White, widow of William M. White, and mother-in-law of Joseph Cavanaugh. As stated in a prior post, Joseph Cavanaugh and his brother William are both buried in the White Cemetery near Kelly, KY. Both of these men married daughters of William M. White and Martha Long White. William M. White (1803-1855)is also buried there. Both Martha A. Whte Cavanaugh (died 1933) and her mother Martha Long White. are buried in Hopkinsville in the Riverside Cemetery. --I don't know why, except perhaps after they became widows they moved into town. Martha Long White is listed as a "midwife" in the 1880 census. I have more information on the White line if you are interested.
