Fair Play Street, Seneca, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Lila Doyle Nursing Care Facility. Born in Hopkinsville, Ky., on Feb. 4, 1919, Mr. Peden was a retired Rural Mail Carrier with the United States Postal Service, and a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. Mr. Peden was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II, a member of Charles McGee Post 120, State Commander for the American Legion in 1963-1964, and was on a number of national committees for the American Legion. Survivors: a son, Thomas R. Peden Jr. of North Carolina; a daughter, Judy Peden Kay of Casar, N.C.; a sister, Katherine Peden of Louisville, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Judy Peden of Hopkinsville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Mr. Peden was the son of the late William Edward and Mary Elizabeth Gorin Peden, and was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl Bailey Peden; a son, Robert M. Peden; brothers, Maxie and James Edward Peden; and grandsons, Joshua and Jay Peden. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Stokes, Bill Stevenson and Bob Fergeson officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum. The body is at the Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. before the service at the church on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 201 S.
