WOOTEN is well remembered by many of our people and especially by those at Providence where he used to run a blind tiger. In fact Tom never liked to stay in any town other than where prohibition was supposed to prevail. He has had large experience with the courts on account of his supposed illicit traffic in "red licker." Bill BRAME is the man who a few years ago shot and killed conductor LEMON, of the Hopkinsville accommodation, for which he got only 2 years in the penitentiary at Nashville. About 15 years ago he shot and killed Sheriff BEAUMONT at Clarksville, Tenn., and by some means managed to escape both the pen and the gallows. It is said that he also at one time killed a negro. BRAME and WOOTEN had lately been at outs over some matter, and the shooting was no surprise to the people. BRAME met a son of WOOTEN's the day before the killing and threatened the life of the boy and also sent word that he would kill WOOTEN on sight. On Thursday BRAME rode up to the grocery kept by WOOTEN, with a drawn pistol and at once the shooting began. BRAME was shot twice and died in a few minutes. WOOTEN was not touched. WOOTEN went at once to Hopkinsville and surrendered himself to the authorities. If all reports be true he was certainly justifiable in doing the killing.
