LACY DEAD THE VENERABLE MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL PASSES AWAY At an Early Hour Sunday Morning After a Brief Illness at His Home Near This City--Had Been a Minister of the Baptist Church for Over Half a Century---The Funeral Yesterday The people of Madisonville were not surprised Sunday morning when they heard the news that the Rev. N. LACY had passed away during the night. He had been seriously ill for about two weeks with grip and pneumonia, and his friends had been warned of the fact that the beloved preacher could not recover, that still death might come at any time. Mr. LACY was born eighty years ago last October in Christian county, this state, where he lived for many years. It was there, if we mistake not, where he was licensed and ordained to preach. He had been engaged in the ministry as a Baptist preacher for more than half a century. He has for many years been a citizen of Hopkins county, and at the time of his death was living at his own home near Madisonville. Some twenty-five or thirty years ago Mr. LACY was well known as a teacher, and for many years he followed this profession in connection with that of the ministry. In all the callings and professions of life in which Mr. LACY engaged he always acquitted himself with honor to that calling and with credit to himself. He was indeed a noble and honest man. He was upright in all his dealings with his fellow man, and had the good will of all who knew him. He led a useful life and at the end of the journey closed his day at peace with all mankind. He was the father of a large family of children. Two sons, Mr. Will LACY, of Evansville, and Dr. John LACY, of Nashville, and three daughters, Mrs. Dr. H.D. BOYLE and Mrs. C.H. YOUNG, of Madisonville and Mrs. L.M. RICE survive him. He also leaves a wife his sacred memory. These are all good people and they sorrow for the demise of a kind father and an affectionate husband. The remains were taken to Odd Fellow's Cemetery yesterday, where they were laid by the side of loved ones gone before. (Source: Madisonville Hustler, Tue.
