Our records go back to 1797 so there could be a lot of Franklin family names. Yes, don't we all wish we hadn't waited so long in doing our research. Someone ought to invent a time machine that really works so we could go back in time and see what happened to those ancestors that we can't find a paper trail on. They invent everything else!!
