My ancestor, Meridith Brewer, was born about 1784--first wife unknown. What evidence do you have that she was Elizabeth Stuart? I am thrilled to have this info. According to my notes, Meridith was a widower in 1820 census with three sons under ten years, one son aged 10-16, two daughters under ten years, and one dau aged 10-16. This one is my ancestor, Elizabeth, who married Reuben Coffer in 1824 in Muhlenberg Co. There is a marriage of a Meridith to Sarah Boyd in 1821 in Trigg Co., but also a Meridith Brewer m Nancy Brown in 1823 in Christian Co. One of these is our Meridith and the other prob a son. Since the 1850 census Trigg Co. shows Meridith 66 b NC with with "Sina" I assume that his second wife was Sarah Boyd. Meridith is listed as a "wheelwright" in 1850 and has son Thomas 17 (whose widow later m a son of my Reuben Coffer), dau Mary L age 15, Lucinda age 12, Richard Nance age 8 (prob gr son), and Elizabeth Steel age 21 (prob daughter). Meridith owned land, 400 acres, on Carson Creek in hristian Co in 1817, but no land is shown for him in 1820 tax records. In 1825, he boughtr land for $600 in Muhlenberg Co. In 1827, he is in Christian Co tax list. From 1833 to 1835, Meridith lived in Calloway Co. He is in Trigg Co in 1840 census.
