Surnames: Brasher, Armstrong Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mAB.2ACE/2621 Message Board Post: An old Landmark Gone Died, at the home of her daughter in this city on July 30, Mrs. Mary A. BRASHER at the advanced age of ninety years. Mrs. BRASHER was born in South Carolina in 1806. Her maiden name was ARMSTRONG. She came to Kentucky in 1808 in an ox wagon and saw many Indians in her early days. She settled in Christian County, where she married, and raised four children, two girls and two boys. Her memory was good and she retained her faculties to a remarkable degree. Until about a year since, she devoted a great deal of her time to reading, of which she was very fond. She delighted in talking of early times and pioneer life; her grandfather, of whom she often spoke was captured and tortured to death by the Indians. She had for many years been a member of the Universalian Church and died in that faith. She was buried in the cemetery here, followed to the last resting place by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Four generations of descendants and a host of friends mourn her death, to w! hom the Bee extends sympathy.
