Hi all. Is anyone researching the early GILLUM families of Christian and Trigg counties Kentucky? I have a Sara W. Gillum that married James S. Porter in 1831 in Trigg county; however, I know there was a Gillum in Christian county as early as 1810 according to census records and there are also several early marriages of Gillums in the 1810's and 1820's. Would be interested in exchanging info with anyone on this line. early Christian County marriages: Gillum, Betsy D. and Harrell, John Marriage Date: 25 Dec 1813 Gillum, Amos and Wooldridge, Martha Marriage Date: 01 Dec 1818 Gillum, Mary and Mansfield, James S. Marriage Date: 10 Mar 1819 Gillum, Milton W. and Mcallister, Eliza Marriage Date: 26 Dec 1819 Gillum, Eliza W. and Utterback, Joel W. Marriage Date: 06 Jan 1820 There was an Amos Gillum in the census for Christian County, KY in the 1840 census and an Amos Gillum in the 1820 census for Trigg County, KY. My best guess ... and a guess is all this would be ... is that Sara W. Gillum was either a sister or sister-in-law of Amos Gillum. There aren't any indications that Sara W. Gillum was married prior to her marriage to James S. Porter, but that doesn't mean anything really. The following are the Gillum's that I can find for Christian County, KY showing that as early as 1810 there was a Gillum in Christian County, KY. "Kelley Station" was located directly north of Hopkinsville. It was the half-way point on the railroad between Hopkinsville and Crofton KY. That area is still known as Kelly today, but there is no station or post office there anymore. You should be able to locate it on any map -- it is a small place. Go to http://www.mapquest.com and type in KELLY KY. Hope that helps!
