Let's see... What's new? First of all, let me say that the KYGenWeb has a new State Coordinator, Sheri Hall. She was elected when Nancy Trice resigned. Nancy, who is on our list, has done a fantastic job over the years and Sheri has some big shoes to fill! ~Thanks Nancy for all you have done for the KYGenWeb project. Now with that said, we have a new Cemetery online at Christian Co. KyGenWeb, thanks to Nancy Trice. Nancy has photographed and transcribed the McCarroll Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, on the Princeton Road. Nancy has also granted permission for the Shy Flat Cemetery to be moved to the kyseeker site, so now our search engine will pick up names listed there. ~Follow the link to Cemeteries from the Christian Co. page. Another project moved to the Christian Co. site is the Gander Memorial site that Nancy put together. There are photos of the plaques and what the park USED to look like before they cut all the trees down! (Its a sad site now!) There is also a list of those who died in the crash and a few have links to obits and/or other personal information about them. This is something that we would like to expand upon, so if you have information about any of those listed- send it in. ~Follow the link to the military page from the Christian Co. page. I am working on another cemetery sent by Jean Wells and should have it up some time soon. I'll be sure to let you know. I hope to get Crofton Cemetery finished in the next week or so! That has really been a project! Only one section remaining ~and I hope it is snake free! Hope all of you guys are staying dry! I don't worry about flooding here. I've been told that if I flood, all of Western KY is in big trouble! (I live in Grand Rivers - upstream from the two dams) Nevertheless, we have still had lots and lots of rain. Enjoy! Julie

My middle name is Hiter, and my father was Hiter Dawson Melton, Jr. I escaped the III, but have been told that Hiter came from a contraction of Hightower (the last name of James, who was an indentured servant from Edinbugh - 1707 to Virginia, who's family was named Hite.) The family tree goes through Culpeper and Staunton, into West Virginia (Summers county) and my recent relatives to Milton and Huntington. Hugh and Eulee are first names I assumed to be my fathers uncle and/or aunt, living in western Virginia, if they are still alive. Could be cousins though.
Thanks Edna. I have found some reason to suspect that Margarent Ann Crews' parents were John James Crews and his wife Minerva ... but no confirmation as of yet. I'll let you know if I find anything further. And thanks for the heads up on Peter Steveson's wife! I have borrowed my uncle's Stevenson book. It says that Peter Stevenson (7 Oct 1871 - 11 Jul 1941) married Florence Knight (9 Apr 1887 - 19 Nov 1966) on 28 August 1915. Peter was an employee of the L&N Railroad.
