Our records go back to 1797 so there could be a lot of Franklin family names. Yes, don't we all wish we hadn't waited so long in doing our research. Someone ought to invent a time machine that really works so we could go back in time and see what happened to those ancestors that we can't find a paper trail on. They invent everything else!! Look forward to hearing from you again, just give me as much as you can on the Franklin family so I can make sure I'm on the right family. Rebecca

    1. Re: [KYCHRIST] Re: Brewer
    2. My ancestor, Meridith Brewer, was born about 1784--first wife unknown. What evidence do you have that she was Elizabeth Stuart? I am thrilled to have this info. According to my notes, Meridith was a widower in 1820 census with three sons under ten years, one son aged 10-16, two daughters under ten years, and one dau aged 10-16. This one is my ancestor, Elizabeth, who married Reuben Coffer in 1824 in Muhlenberg Co. There is a marriage of a Meridith to Sarah Boyd in 1821 in Trigg Co., but also a Meridith Brewer m Nancy Brown in 1823 in Christian Co. One of these is our Meridith and the other prob a son. Since the 1850 census Trigg Co. shows Meridith 66 b NC with with "Sina" I assume that his second wife was Sarah Boyd. Meridith is listed as a "wheelwright" in 1850 and has son Thomas 17 (whose widow later m a son of my Reuben Coffer), dau Mary L age 15, Lucinda age 12, Richard Nance age 8 (prob gr son), and Elizabeth Steel age 21 (prob daughter). Meridith owned land, 400 acres, on Carson Creek in hristian Co in 1817, but no land is shown for him in 1820 tax records. In 1825, he boughtr land for $600 in Muhlenberg Co. In 1827, he is in Christian Co tax list. From 1833 to 1835, Meridith lived in Calloway Co. He is in Trigg Co in 1840 census.

After leaving college, he practiced his profession in Christian county and Hopkinsville, until about two years ago, when he moved to Earlington, Hopkins county, where he has since resided. During his residence in Christian county, Doctor DULIN was president of the Christian County Medical Society, and at the time he moved to Earlington, was and had been for several years chairman of the Democratic Committee of Christian county and head and front of the Democratic organization which gained several notable victories in that Republican stronghold. Doctor DULIN is a Democrat who believes in hard work and thorough organization. He is now a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the Legislature from this county.! He is a man of a high order of intelligence, preposessing in appearance, genial in his mingling with his fellowman, and, if chose to represent Hopkins county, will no doubt make an efficent official. They will give you a piece of paper that you have to get signed by a judge to release the records for Geneology purposes. I have never had any problem getting the judge to sign for me, and the records I have obtained are in remarkably good shape with lots of interesting data. There is no charge if the records are available and have never been requested by you before. Be sure to have as much information on the person you are trying to locate as possible so they may be able to find the records better. Western State Hospital has been around since before the Civil War, and it is likely that there are several same names in the records.

He died in Houston Co TN Jan 16, 1887 leaving 6 children: Jane Elizabeth, Benjamin Franklin, Mary Anne, William Hunter , David Stuart and Virginia Ruth (the last married James Franklin Torian Mar 17, 1864; these are my paternal great grandparents). Jos Brewer’s obituary says he died Feb 27 1877 in Christian Co. in the 70th year of his life. I am looking for any information on the ancestors of Jas and Joseph Brewer. Their father’s name was Merideth Brown Brewer. He was born ca. 1770-1780 probably in NC (Virginia?) mar. Elizabeth Stuart, had at least 4 children: William A., Jas A., Joseph and David. Merideth Brewer came to Christian Co about 1808 and is mentioned in records there indicating he probably died around 1844. I haven’t been able to find out any more information on Merideth Brewer. His father (name unknown) died in the revolutionary war at the battle of Guilford Court House and is buried at Hillsborough North Carolina. Does anyone have any information at all on this Brewer line, especially Merideth Brewer and his father etc? Also, on the Stuart line, particularly Gravener Stuart? Thanks for any information.
