    1. [KYCHRIST] More on the Williams family.
    2. Kristen
    3. I have found another family tied to the Williams of Christian Co, besides the Calvin family. The name of Teague is found a number of times not only tied to Williams in Christian County but in Newberry SC as well. It appears a James Teague married Elizabeth Williams in 1797. Both James and Elizabeth passed away in SC but their children who I have found in Wills have been found in Christian Co. Also named in the Will of Elizabeth Williams-Teague is John Williams and James Williams. Kristen

    3. Every one of Jesse's children that are in Arkansas have father listed as being born SC, James's other children on census also state that he is born in SC. I have found only once that one of Jesse children stated he was born anywhere else (however it does state he was born in KY on this mistake) but on the same year census it has Jesse's other children all his list birth place SC. Jesse in the 1850 census states he was born in SC, he lived in the home of James Walker. The only other Williams who came to Christian County was John Williams, as you have said yourself to me, John didn't have a child of Jesse's age. The only person who did have children of Jesse's age & Polly age was James. Also I have received papers on Jesse that state he did come from Christian County before going to Posey Indiana. That put together with the information I received via John G. West also state that James had a son named Jesse & the document that states Jesse was surety of Polly. 1820 Christian Co., KY census which showed the James Williams household consisting as follows: MALES = 1 age 0-10, 1 age 10-15, 2 age 18-26, and 1 age 45-up; FEMALES = 3 age 0-10, 1 age 10-15, and 1 age 16-18. Of coarse Jesse would not have been listed because of the fact he was in Posey County by this time. Land grants to James Williams were as follows: 18 Jan 1799 200 acres on Pond River in Christian Co., KY 22 Apr 1803 400 acres on Pond River in Christian Co., KY 6 Sep 1803 200 acres on Pond River in Christian Co., KY Jesse is clearly listed on the 1820 census of Posey Co living near Calvin's and other Williams's. So is Gillison Price. 1. [KYCHRIST] Calvin-Williams Families SC to Christian Co. Ky to Posey Indiana
    2. Kristen
    3. This is what I have found about the Williams and the Calvin Families of Christian Co. Job Calvin had a daughter, Sarah Calvin who married John Williams. Job, Sarah, and John came from SC so did the James Williams family. All of these families came to Christian Co from Newberry District South Carolina within the same time period. All but Sarah were mentioned many times in SC wills and deeds from Newberry. Job Calven, Sarah and John Williams and James's son Jesse Williams all went to Posey County Indiana about the same time period as well, along with some other families from Christian Co. One being the Price family. Some people in my family said John was Jesse's father but by doing a lot of census work I have determined that James NOT John did indeed have a son of Jesse Williams's age living with him in the 1810 census. Jesse Williams was born abt 1794 in South Carolina, where as John's oldest son, Daniel was born 1798. John Williams however did not have a child of Jesse's age living in his home in 1810. Jesse Williams and Gillison and Polly Price show up in the 1820 census for Posey Co. So does Job Calvin, John Williams and Sarah. John Williams Family 1810: Males under 10 =1 10-16= 1 26-45=1 Females: under 10 = 2 10-16= 1 26-45= 1 James Williams Family 1810: Males: under 10 = 2 (james jr and amos) 10-16 = 2 (stephen and alvin) 16-26 = 1 (jesse) 26-45 = 1 (james) Females: under 10 = 2 10-16 = 1 (polly) 26-45 = 2 (nancy west and ?) Jesse Williams married Nancy Caldwell in Posey County in 1819, Polly married Gillison Price in 1817 Christian Co. Jesse was surety for Polly at her wedding, who was in fact his sister. All of the people mentioned in this email all showed up in Posey between 1817 and 1819. Per notes I got from Mr. West: Reference page 2 of the Fern Williams documentation which stated that 'she had a book with the flyleaf gone, a sequel to English Reader'. On the inside of the front cover of this book the names of Amos, Alvin, James and Steven Williams (four sons) were written. This statement followed the names of the sons: "James Williams is my name, America is my nation, Christian County is my dwelling place, and Iieus (Jesus) my salvation". Inside the back cover of this book were the names, Stephen and Jesse Williams (again 2 sons, with Steven being named inside the front cover also); followed by the date 1824. Also on the inside back cover: 'Alvin, 7 Nov 1813 (interpreted to be Alvin's birthday). This referenced book did not document the sixth son, Warren; nor any of James and Nancy's daughters. I know Jesse was good friends of Gillison Price, not only did he marry his sister but he also named a son after him, Jordan Gillison Williams. Jordan was Nancy's mothers maiden name, Gillison after Gillison Price. Jesse's oldest son was James Caldwell Williams born abt. 1826, named after Nancy's father, James Caldwell. William Stephen Williams was born 1832, he is my direct line to Jesse Williams. The names James, William, Stephen, and Jesse are repeated many times in my family. I also know the oldest of Jesse's children was a daughter born in 1824, however I do not know her name. If anyone would like anything else on this family, I would be happy to share Feel free to email me at webmaster@williamsgenealogy.net Kristen Williams

    3. By 1820 Jesse was living in Posey County Indiana. So was Gillison Price, a lot of the other Price brothers are listed as well. Listed in Home of Jesse Williams: Males 18-26= 1 Females 18-26= 1 Lists no children. Jesse Williams and Nancy Caldwell (she came from Warren Co, KY) married in Posey County on July 8 1819. Their sons names were James Caldwell Williams born 1826 b. Indiana, then William Stephen Williams 1832 b. Indiana, & Jordan Gillison Williams 1840 b. Illinois. They move to Wayne County Illinois between 1832 and 1840. They helped start a church there. All of them even Gillison Price are listed there in the 1840 & up censuses in Wayne Co. Kristen

    3. So Jesse is listed as a child in your information as well? He has to be related to this family. I can not find any firm proof of this as of yet. A brother would only surety of a sister so that's how I found Polly to be in fact his sister. My Cousin has the actual documentation of this action. I also had Mary "Polly" as the name on her. My Cousin also wrote for a Will of James but he left no Will. Do you know if there would have been any probate of his property even without a will? According to all land stuff I have seen on James Williams he owned a lot of property in Christian County. I can for sure account for Jesse and Gillison both living in Posey Co. Indiana and Wayne Co. 3. Did you know that the name Larkin was also the name of would be Jesse's cousins son? He was the son of Daniel (son of John Williams & Sarah Calvin ) Williams. Most of this family moved from Christian County to Indiana. Obviously if your John Henderson stayed in KY then who is the John Henderson that lived next door to Jesse? I wonder lol. Too many Common names. Williams has to have been the hardest I have done, but on the John Henderson that lived next door to Jesse he was in the 1820 census and after that he disappeared it could have been him living for a short time and maybe didn't like it and went back home. I have pinpointed the years they moved to Posey as between the years 1817 and 1819, because Polly and Gillison were married in 1817 (this was shortly before they moved) and Jesse and his wife Nancy Caldwell married in 1819. I learned from a cousin that John and James where brothers threw a cousin. She also told me John was Jesse's father but James had a son listed in the 1810 census of Jesse's age so it makes me think that James is in fact the father of Jesse. John Williams did not have a son listed of Jesse's age. For instance Christian County was formed in 1797 from a division of Logan County. And then check them for your family names. I know there are Williams in Logan County and also in Muhlenberg County.
