    1. [KYCHRIST] Kentucky Death Certificate Project
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mAB.2ACE/2524 Message Board Post: Last Chance for Kentucky Death Certificate CD. I am putting the finishing touches on the Kentucky Death Certificate CD and it is set to be mailed out by Feb 7, 2004. There is still time to get involved though. If you have Death Certificates with a KENTUCKY connection, born, died or lived any part of their lives in Kentucky and would like to be a part of this project. E-mail your scanned JPEG death certificates to me at foe3643@mac.com The cost for the CD is $2.00 per CD (not death certificate) this will cover shipping and handling and the cost of the CD. The only stipulation is that you MUST donate atleast one death certificate to the project. However, the more each of us donate the larger the project will be. As of Feb 1, 2004 I currently have 1,800 death certificates that will be included on the CD. If this project proves to be a success I hope to continue it and put out one CD every six months or until there is no more interest in the Death Certificates. Anyone needing more information please feel free to e-mail me at the above address. And don't forget to drop by Tombstone Central: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~foe3643/ Cassy Sommers

He was 78 yrs. old when he died and he died in Western State Hospital here in Hopkinsville. It states that he had chronic myocarditis and that is of course, heart trouble. Contributory cause was insanity which could easily have been alzheimers. He states that he is buried in Paducah, McCracken Co., Ky. We have several cemetery books on that county but I could not find him listed. I'm going to give you the address for the library there, maybe they can be of some help. McCracken Co. Public Library 555 Washington St. Paducah, Kentucky 42003-1735 I will send the copy of his death certificate to you and if I can be of any more help to you, let me know. Sincerely, Rebecca L. Owen

    3. I tried to send a message to Dan Vass at his e-mail address concerning Vass graves in Christian Co., Ky. but was notified the message did not go through. The new Christian Co. cemetery book is nearing printing and Betty McCorkle called me to see if I had any information about the two known Vasses or anyone else buried in the Woodson Cemetery. I don`t, but I told Betty I would contact Dan Vass and see if he knew anything. Betty had spoken to a person closely involved when 39 graves were moved when Hwy 68-E was four-laned recently. Only 10 tombstones were there when Tim and Anna Meador copied the Woodson Cemetery in 1966. At some time the other stones had been thrown in a sinkhole. Betty and Yvonne Cameron would like to include ANY INFO at all that they receive in the new book. If you can help fill in anything at all on the 29 people who were buried there, we would truly appreciate it. Thank you for any help . Peggy Fritz -- 256 Cardinal Circle -- Cadiz, KY 42211

    1. [KYCHRIST] Vass grave, or graves in Ky. ?
    2. Peggy Fritz
    3. Dan, I have seen your name on the messages sent to the Christian Co., Ky. list inquiring about various Vass families. My husband`s distant relative, Susie Amelia Fritz (b.March 19,1903 - at Fairview, Ky.) married Edward Bennett Vass and I think they only had one son whose name was James Edward Vass who married Claudine Smith. James Edward and Claudine had four sons named James Edward Vass Jr., Robert Montgomery Vass, Thomas Smith Vass ( about 46 or so, whom I know ) and David Bennett Vass. You may know all of the above, or not looking for information about this particular family. The reason I`m writing you is as follows --- Betty McCorkle called me tonight. She is one of two ladies who are updating and also combining into one book three sectional Christian Co., Ky. cemetery books, plus any other Christian Co. cemetery records not previously published. As you can imagine this has been a huge undertaking. They have worked on this project for two years. Betty asked if I knew anything about any Vasses who were buried in the Woodson Cemetery, which is about 7 1/2 miles east of Hopkinsville, Ky. Directions --- From Hopkinsville at the intersection of old Hwy. 68 East and the entrance to Western State Hospital, go 7 mi. on old Hwy. 68 East , turn left into a lane and go approximately 1/2 mile. The cemetery is on the right of the house. In May, 1966 when Woodson Cemetery tombstones were copied, there were only ten stones. The names found were Eaton 2, Woodson 6, and Vass 2. Mary F. Vass, December 9, 1837 --- July 24, 1928 and Jno. G., son of M. P. and S. A. Vass , April 15, 1896 --- October 8,1896 Betty knows John G`s parents are Mills P. Vass and Sarah A. Woodson Vass. And she knows that when Hwy. 68 East was four-laned in the last few years it went over the Woodson Cemetery, legally. She has spoken to someone who was in charge of part of the project who told her that they moved 39 people and if we could find out the names of the others a nice marker would be put up listing all names we can discover, and dates, if known. Betty found out that a farmer had thrown the other stones in a sinkhole before the original cemetery books were ever published, thus only the ten stones were there to be copied. Betty is not on line, and I told her I`d seen your name on the Christian Co. site and would try and contact you to see if you might know anything about any other Vasses, or ANYONE who could have been buried in that Woodson Cemetery. Of the 10 stones the earliest birth dates are 1820 and 1822, the latest death date--- a WW1 veteran died in 1960. Other death dates are 1862, 1866, 1896, 1904, 1911,1923, and 1928. The big new book is almost ready to go to either the publisher or the printer, I forget which. So if you will, please e-mail me at psfritz@apex.net so ANY information you or anyone you know might have, can get in the book. I`ll take it to Betty as soon as get it !!! And, by the way, do you have any connection to Christian or Todd Co. , or Kentucky ? Hoping to hear from you soon, Peggy P.S. Old two lane Hwy.68 E still goes through Fairview, Ky. but new four-lane 68 E bypasses Fairview, which pretty much sits on the Christian and Todd Co. line. Stephen Williams 18 Jan 1799 Muddy Fk Little R. in Christian Co., Ky (book 8) (he is obviously far to old to be James's son if he is buying land in 1799) Here are James and John Williams: James Williams 18 Jan 1799 200 acres on Pond River in Christian Co., KY (book 2) John Williams 30 Feb 1799 200 acres on Little R in Christian Co., Ky (book 11) I find it weird that James and Stephen got land on the same day and year in Christian Co. These were in 1798: Williams, Arthur 200 28 11- 8-1798 Christian Donelson Fk Williams, John 200 18 11- 9-1798 Christian Donelson Fk Williams, Jesse Jr 200 22 11- 9-1798 Christian Donelson Cr Williams, John 200 22 11- 9-1798 Christian Donelson Cr Williams, Jesse Jr 200 22 11- 9-1798 Christian Donelson Cr Would parents of this time period have bought land under their children's names?
