He was returning from church and has just passed the family of Louis EARLE a few moments previous, and had reached an open pasture near the cemetery when the fatal bolt fell upon him. His body was so badly burned that it was a difficult task to prepare it for burial. His shoes were literally burnt off his feet and his clothing gave evidence that the stroke was one of unusual severity. He was about 20 years of age and was a comparative stranger. From letters found upon his person he evidently came from Pembroke, Ky. Telegrams to parties at that place have so far elicited no information. (Source: Earlington Bee, Thur., Mar. 22, 1894)

Mrs. HICKS is a widow lady, living alone with two small children, and she has the sympathy of the entire community. While little Julia, the unfortunate child is gone to a better world, to bask in the effulgent light of a Savior's love, weep not, for Julia is at home whose builder and maker is God, and who has said: "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Yes, she is gone from earth and earthly cares, but is up yonder only waiting to be the first to greet her little brother and dear mother across the River of Death, where there will be no parting. Little Julia, rest in peace. Peterkin. (Source: Earlington Bee, Thur., Feb. 1, 1894)

I have no information on Penfield C. Carter, except that in the 1880 Christian Co. Census he was a boarder and farm laborer in the home of H. E. Major. The adjoining house is Albert E. Word, the brother of Anna B. Word. P. C. Carter and Anna Word were married on Dec. 28, 1880 in the home of her brother A. E. Word. They are both buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville, KY. I do have a information on the Word family, if you are interested, and I would like to know the parents of P. C. Carter and his siblings. Dot Davie -

Mr. CROFT was born and reared in Christian county, and resided continuously at the place of his birth up to nine years ago when he was removed to his son's home in this city. He has suffered twenty-eight years from partial paralysis, and for past eighteen years has been as helpless as an infant. His case is the saddest we have ever known, (notwithstanding the daily ministration of his faithful wife and affectionate son through these long years of anguish, who have never seemed to tire of their unselfish devotion) yet, Job-like, he bore his sufferings patiently to the end. His remains were laid to rest in the Earlington Cemetery at 4:30 o'clock Wednesday evening. The Bee extends condolence to the bereaved ones. Hopkinsville papers please copy.
