I don't know if this helps anyone but Stephen Williams that married Jane Henderson lists his father as being born in South Carolina. This fact was backed up by Stephen's brother who lived in Wayne Co Illinois, his name was Jesse Williams who I have since found he was in fact James Williams's oldest son, he was born in South Carolina and lists both parents as being born in SC. However all the other children born to James and Nancy were all born in KY. This was not just stated in one census but a few in Illinois. Also if anyone checks Amos Williams in later census in Iowa they also list his father being born in SC. Therefor I have no choice but to believe James Williams of Christian Co that married Nancy West was born in South Carolina. There are a number of Williams's from Newberry and Lauren's counties and I have been checking into them for sometime now, I haven't come up with anything great yet but if I do I will let you know. Also with the fact that James's daughter Mary "Polly" Williams, married Gillison Price who's family was also from South Carolina, makes me only believe this more. Gillison Price was the son of Joseph Price and Elizabeth "Ann" Gillison who married in South Carolina. I'm sorry but in my eyes all signs point to the Williams's coming from South Carolina and not North Carolina. I believe the Wests, Hendersons, and Lacys of Chatham lived at the north border of Chatham where it joined Orange at that time (Philemon Lacy and his brother were separated by the Chatham Co line when it was created; Philemon lived in Chatham and his brother in Orange!); this land sale was most likely between neighbors. I know it's not much of a clue, but maybe worth investigating who this James Williams may have been. Nancy ==== KYCHRIST Mailing List ==== Christian Co. You never know when the little clues will all fall into place and take you somewhere. I know his family will be somewhere close to the Wests and Hendersons because his son Stephen married Jane Henderson, daughter of John Henderson. Do you have any info on John Henderson from NC?
During your research have you come across any information on the slaves owned by the West family? My grandfather, Paul West, was born in 1848 and died in 1936. He indicated on the census that he was born in NC. He died in Christian County Ky. Any help would be appreciated. Francene

Is Lettie Jones possibly a daughter of Amos Jones and Barbara Henderson? I know I am missing some Hendersons who went from NC to KY. Barbara was the daughter of Isaac, b 1753 NC; I descend from Isaac's sister Frances who married Silas Clark. Another sibling, Hezekiah, is said to have gone to KY but I have no further info on him. He may be the ancestor of all those Hendersons in KY that I know are "mine" but don't know where they go. One of those "orphans" is Isaac Henderson who married Susanna West. I know he's from my Hendersons but not sure of his parents. Thomas West Sr. apparently had a brother named Ignatius who is reported to have been in Montgomery Co NC in 1812; I wonder if Nancy belongs to HIM. We are definitely some kind of cousin! Nancy
Would you have Mary Ann Fritz Morrow who married Finis Euin Henderson on Dec. 10, 1833 in Christian Co., Ky. in your information ? Mary Ann died in 1856 and Finis Euin died in 1858, both in Christian Co. Their children were : Sidney Ann b.1834 ; Malinda M. b.1836 ; Alexander Meade b. 1837 ; Maria B. b. about 1841. Finis Euin`s father was James Henderson. Any information will be appreciated. I'm going to check out that book, too. As for Nancy West and James Williams: I have them in my tree exactly the way you do; no parents! There were so many descendants of Thomas West Sr; some have been researched and some not. My intention was to get something on all of them in my tree, but there are a few on whom I have nothing. As far as I can tell, all the Wests except Ignatius and Jesse went to Kentucky from NC. Jesse is still living in 1850, with daughter Matilda, but where did his son go? Is he the Jonathan West who appears in Christian Co. in 1850? The age is right. Jesse had only one son and one daughter, so we know Nancy West isn't Jesse's. The only Nancy West I show in the right time frame married Henry Brewer. There are 3 sons of Thomas West Sr. that I find nothing much on: Phillip, Berry, and Rutherford, and we know John went to KY but I have nothing on him. Evidently Nancy belongs to this bunch but WHERE?? As for the Williamses, I have a Joseph born abt 1814 in NC; married Delilah Mann... Manns also ! married Brewers, Meachams, and Wests... I bet Joseph belongs to the same family as your James. However, I have nothing yet on Joseph's family. Will definitely let you know what I find on him. Nancy

I am sure that is what happened, as it came to my Bulk Mail. Darn!! The Wests, Lacys, Hendersons, and Richardsons are my cousins, and the twins of William West and Susanna Lacy are my double-cousins. (William's uncle Jesse was my 4xggrandfather, and Susanna's aunt Sarah was his wife, back in NC). The Richardsons are my cousins-in-law many times over and so are the Meachams and Brewers. Some of the Hendersons are my biological cousins, and any Durhams that went from Chatham NC to Christian/Todd NC are probably mine too. I'd like to find more on Harmon West's descendants. I am curious as to whether his wife Catherine Harned and Sarah Ann Harned are related (Sarah married Isaac Wilson Jones, grandson of Barbara Henderson and Amos Jones). Thank you for taking the time to help me! Nancy
