I'm new to the list. My Shockley family seem to be one of those families, that just seem to miss the census taker every 10 years. Richard and his family are buried in Gross Cemetery in Randolph Co. AR., that's the only place I found them together. It hasn't helped that I was told they came from Ireland around 1860. This is the information I have, hope someone can help me. David Russell Shocklee was born in 1870 or 71 in Kentucky. Found Richard Shockly born 1831 in Casey Co. Ky. (my records have b. 1812) Found marriage of Richard Shockley and Ellen Hinkle, February 3, 1856, Muhlenberg, Ky. Richard, Ellen and Lucy Shockley found in 1860 Census in Ky., no Frank, but Frank was born in 1848, according to his headstone. Lucy was born 1860. Maybe Frank was from a previous marriage or he was a family member living with them after the 1860 Census. David Russell Shocklee had a cousin Francis Shockley, married to Matilda. Francis and Matilda lived in Randolph County, Arkansas. ( David is the son of Richard Syrl Shocklee ) Notes of a possible cousin: Francis Marion Shockley b. 1859 AR (s/o John T. & Mariah J. On the McLean county, Ky 1870 census there is a Francis M Shockley, age 9, from Arkansas. He is living with the Peterson family.
