Joseph L. CLEMENTS: This may be a wild goose chase, but here is what is listed in the 1850 / 1860 Casey Co. Census: 1850: Elijah LAND @ 30y b VA $100 Real Estate Jane " @ 20y b VA William " @ 8y b VA Robert " @ 6y b VA Madison " @ 4y b VA This is under family # 395. I would check the land records for this property in 1850. 1860: Elijah LAND @45y Farmer $500 Real Estate $200 Personal Property Jane " @25y ((Note: this may be a misreading of the original census)) It needs to be compared. James M " @15y William " @ 16y Robert " @ 14y Jobe " @ 12y Sarah " @ 10y Jeremiah " @ 2 y This is from house/family # 1003 / 1007. Elijah has acquired more property value. Perhaps he left a will. If you are in the Casey Co. area, why not check the will books and the land records? Here is my assumption: James M. (1850) is probably Madison (1860) since the ages seem to be mixed up in the order of birth. Was Jobe left off the 1850c or is his age listed wrong? He should have been at 2 years on the 1850c if he was 12y on the 1860c. This is why I would check this "William", even though your date for his birth is one year off. I have found census records to be misleading at times. Perhaps you can access the actual census and also go on to find the 1870 census. I found the LAND family seems to have come to KY from VA, as there are other LAND families listed. Tidbit: I went to school with one George LAND in St. Bernard, OH, so I know that they did go north to that area. Perhaps there is a clue in the phone directory there. For the record: sharing is not a prerequisite for giving information. I do not happen to have the LAND family in my data base, just in my memories; but you are entirely welcome. Good Luck: MissDixieB
