Last week I found myself driving through Kentucky within about 25 minutes of Liberty and Casey County. I hadn't been there since I was, well, it has been a number of years. I made myself free up an hour and drove over. It was a beautiful drive. I found the library with a really nice history/genealogy center. It is closed Thursdays and Sundays, open 10 AM to 6 PM otherwise except Saturday when hours are 9 AM to 3 PM. I also met Gladys Thomas, a wonderfully helpful lady who is working hard to extend the abilities of the library collection. They were adding computer terminals the day I was there. There are numerous genealogy files (none for my VEST line unfortunately) including one on Henson. I wish I had the time to do some research but basically just had time to meet a few folks. I paid my $10 and joined the Bicentennial Heritage Corporation and have already received my first newsletter. I visited the Casey Co., KY GenWeb page at her suggestion and found much helpful information. If you don't know about GenWeb you need to check it out. This is the way of the future for genealogy and it started in Kentucky! You can find Casey Co. through the Kentucky site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/ Just wanted to share a bit of my experience with those who are talking about a trip soon.
