If you don't have genealogy software that will read GED files, they can be read by you with a text reader such as Wordpad. But it's something you kind of have to learn how to do by trial and error. Also, you might check the AOL online tutorials for more info on how to work with gedcom files. Click Keyword and type "Roots."
