    3. 10 YEARS AGO Week of July 13,1988 The Liberty City Council applied for a $10,000 grant for the revitalization of downtown Liberty. Obituaries: Dolly Bell Derringer, 75; Leonard E. Roy, 45; Leonard Galen Weddle, 88; Ira B. Spears, 79. Keith and Robin Buis announced the birth of their son,Bryan Keith, who was born June 19. Mr and Mrs Marion Terry celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary July 16 at the home of their daughter. Sarah Sallee won the title of Little Miss Heritage in Hustonville on June 23. 20 YEARS AGO Week of July 13,1978 Beth Ann Brawner,4 year old granddaughter of Fred and Esther Burkhard,was missing for 14 hours,when she was found in a briar thicket around 11/2 miles from her grandparent's home. Obituaries: Marcus T Ponder, 54; Flora B Wethington,81;Minnie McQueary,66. Attendance at the Salem Methodist Church July 9 was 33. Mike Farris won first place and Mrs. Carlie Roy won second in the Southern Bellle Dairy Sweeostakes in Liberty. James Baruch Ellison was 1 year old July 12. He is the son of Barry and Brenda Ellison of middleburg. Showing at the Green River Drive-In-Theater were Smokey and the Bandit and Roller Coaster. 30 YEARS AGO Week of July 18,1968 Obituaries: Perry Oliver Atwood,78; Gracie Jaylar Richardson,66; John Preston Sweeny,91; Dallas Dewitt Akers,74; Ora Ware Bastin,70. Attendance July 14 at the Church of God was 69. Mr and Mrs Earl Taylor of Argyle had all seven children and seven grandchildren home July 7. Hazel Clarkson retired from teaching at the age of 67. She taught for 27 years. Lightning struck the barn of Basil Smithers on Wilson Ridge and set the hay on fire. Karen Davis and Judy Rubarts attended camp at Wa-Kon-Da-Ho. 40 YEARS AGO Week of July 17 Fire destroyed the dairy barn of Eugene Weddle when lightening struck it. The staff at the Casey County Hospital officially declared the week as Casey County Baby Week. There were seven babies born. Obituaries: John R Anderson,73; Ricky Lee Giles,2; E.M. Terry,80. Janet Sallee, 15, was named future homemaker of the week. Six boys from the Middleburg High School attended a leadership training center at Hardinsburg for schooling in helping other Future Farmers of America.
