Shirley, I haven't forgotten you. Have had trouble making new computers talk to old and also to a printer. Finally solved the problems and am working at catching up on correspondence. Will get back to you about Rice's and Phillips. My Rice's were in Adair and Taylor Counties, moved to Illinois and then to Oregon in 1862. John Stamper Rice was the son of Joseph Randolph Rice and Abigail Waller. Joseph was the son of Randolph Rice and Sally Puryear. Randolph was a revolutionary soldier and had a slew of children who I have not followed. If you are interested I can send you a family group sheet. Another name you mention is Guthrie. Guthrie's were in Missouri with my Phillips family but I haven't found a connection to them yet. My connection is thru my grandmother Wright's family Polk. There was an Adam Guthrie Polk who lived in Indiana but died at The Dalles OR when he drowned trying to get to the Willamette Valley in 1840 something. An Adam Guthrie married a Hannah Polk in KY but how they are connected to my Grandmother's Uncle I don't know. Will send you via snail mail a copy of my extract from Charles Phillips will. I found it in the Adair County Library in Columbia, KY. Always Barbee Barbee Hodgkins bhodgkin@OregonVOS.net
