Hello All: Just a note for your information. Casey County will be having it's first County Fair this summer, July 22, 23, 24th. A few interested in genealogy have put together a plan for an information gathering area during the fair. The plan was the idea of Larry Witt of Sommerset. We plan to have two computers in use with volunteer information gathering programs set up. I have installed the family tree maker program on these and we will ask people of Casey County to bring in their family tree information. The information volunteer will type this on the FTM family page and give the persons a printout or Generation Report of their information. After the Fair, I will download each family onto a disc, label the Surname and place this information in the Casey County Library for all to share. Much of this I will also download on the computer FTM program in the Casey County Library Research Center so that others can share in tracing family information. If any of you out there would like to volunteer a few hours of typing information into the program during the fair, please contact me. We will make up a schedule of volunteer information takers and post this for the Fair. This will be advertised ahead of the opening of the fair, so that people here can jot down their family names and dates and have time to jog their memory of notes and stories for the family pages. P.S. I enjoyed the chatting back and forth of the those on the page, it made me feel like I could get to know some of you out there.
