Durham was opposed by John S. Hatter in the race. He stated that Hatter was excellent material for school board member and tehy are close personal friends. 40 years ago Week of 0ct. 30,1958 Gary Lay, 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lay was seriously injured when struck by a car. The 2-room newly built Bethelridge graded school was takedn down by Supt. Harold Murphy after only $2,100 was bid.
