He has ties with the surname Shackleford: When Allen Burks Sr was 23 yrs./1794 m Sarah/Sally Berry, 21 Jul 1794, Mercer Co., KY witness is John Shackelford, surety is Charles Duncan •Nancy Berry Martin is noted as Sarah’s guardian. (Nancy Berry married John Martin, 17 Jan 1781, Lincoln Co., KY. Lincoln Co KY Rec. Vol, p. 37. By Michael L. KY, 1791-1836 by James Sutherland, p. 485, at Sutro Library in SF, CA. •Is this the same security as the one listed in "The Men, Women, Events, Institutions and Lore of Casey Co., KY", p. 15, by Watkins found in Sutro Library, SF, CA: Richard Shackleford produced credentials of his ordination of his being in communion with the Christian Society and took the oath required by law, whereupon a testimonial is granted him in due form of law upon making bond with Allen Burk(e)s as security in the sum of $500 conditional as law directs. My main object for checking into the Shackleford connection is to see if Allen Burks if I can discover a link to where Allen comes from in VA. Maybe through finding out which church Shackleford is connected with, I can discover other things. Like where when his first wife Sarah/Sally Berry died. When/where did he marry Elizabeth Townsend.
