Spears was decorated with the Air Force Achievment Medal in Portuga. Her husband,Jeffery,is the son of Danny L. and Sue Spears of Bethridge. City water became discolored due to a problem at the water plant. A new airport in Casey County that would aid in attracting industry was a possibility in the future. Justin Jefferies of Liberty was the overall champion with a score of 149 in the Barren River Junior Classic Golf Tournament. 20 YEARS AGO Week of August 17,1978 Obituaries: Joe Ashley , 90 ;James A. Lewallen , 83 ; Mathew Neil Dean , infant. Kathy Cook was the new postmaster at Dunnville. She is the daughter of Bessie Tarter of Cains Store. Joey Rowland, son of Garry and Sandy Rowland of Dunnville, won third place in Russell County Fair's "Prettiest Baby Contest." Mr. and Mrs. Ancil Mc Donald celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 20. Alice Napier Snow celebrated her 74th birthday August 13 with a reunion and birthday celebration at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Everett of Grove Ridge. Dr. Cathryn Cornett , a member of the Casey County Library Advisory Board and active in several civic organizatons in Liberty and Casey County, was named the August "Citizen of the Month." 30 YEARS AGO Week of August 22, 1968 Obituaries: Edward Henson, 55 ; Zella Harris , 44 ; Otto Paul Steinhauer , 64 ; Eliza Ellender Bolt, 62 ; Lockie Davis Hamm , 68. Wayne Wells, son of Mr. and Mrs. Josh Wells of Middleburg, graduated from Campbellsville College with a major in physical education. Alline Luttrell and Morine Ellison took their Head Start children on a train trip from Somerset to Sterns. Sunday School attendance at Cedar Springs August 18 was 97. Bradley's Pleasure had 50. Brush Creek Christian Church held a revival August 18 - 30. Otis Terry was the lucky winner of $100 credit in his light bill at the 1968 annual meeting of Taylor County RECC in Campbellsville. 40 YEARS AGO Week of August 18,1958 Junior Sasser and Don Scanlon were the winners of the district croquet tournament when they defeated Chilton and Graham of Harrodsburg 3 -2 in the finals. Mrs. L.D.Rice joined the Middleburg High School Facality and taught in the English department. Mae Delp of Creston had a homecoming with all nine of her children,22 of her 24 grandchildren and two of her three great-grandchildren were present. Judge Morris C.
