Vell Dora (this spelling or one of many others I've found), was born 1/20/1890 in Casey County (this from her daughter's birth certificate). Her parents were Mary Donna Roberts and Henry R. Gilpin (this from her own death certificate). She married Alvin Lesley Floyd (my grandfather) in Kentucky. I have her Mother's (Mary Donna's) lineage, but have not been able yet to go back any farther on Henry R. Gilpin's line. Heresay has it that Vell Dora was 1/4 Cherokee. Which would mean than one grandparent was full blooded. I have not established a Cherokee relationship on her Mother's line, so I think it could be Henry R. Gilpin's Mother.
