    3. I believe the community you are seeking is Middleburg.. The beginning was made in 1784 when a Revolutionary War veteran named Lincoln brought a surveying party to the vicinity and laid off along a bend in Green River, a boundary of land for patent, which extended from the river bank westward for more than a mile and included an area of 800 acres. Lincoln, a restless and unsettled man, sold his tract and wandered on. The purchaser was Christopher Riffe, a frontier dutchman, or more properly speaking, a person of German and Irish ancestry.
