Hello, I have had to change email address' again so I now have a more permanent one. >From Casey County I descend from Chilton/ Shelton, Allen, Henson, Mills, Pemberton, McDonald, Taylor, Hansford, Turpen, Thompson, Morgan, McWhorter, McClure, Durham, Douglas, Elliott, Bastin, Reed, Minton, Sphar, Kent, Austin, Lloyd, Fletcher, Snow, Bell, Christerson, Fair, Joslin, Hite, Coleman, Perkins, Williams, Green, Evans, Gabbert, Mayo, Branson, and the Luttrells from Va. My Witt line: John Witt arrived in Charles City Co. Va abt 1670 from London, Son William died in Nelson Co, Va, ABt 1783, Son Abner WItt moved to Knoxville 1786 while brother Elisha Witt moved to Estill Co., Ky, Abner's son Charles Witt lived in Hamilton Co, Tn but son Samuel H. Witt moved to Fentriss Co., Tn and about 1862 moved to Casey Co where he and son James Witt joined Union Army about 1863. Samuel WItt & all other Witts in family moved on to Spurlington, Taylor Co., Ky by 1865. James stayed in Casey & married Sarah Bell daughter of Joseph Abner Bell. My mother was Irene Thompson who married Wallace Witt. They both attended Walnut Hill school & church. Bill Thompson of Middleburg, Christine Sharp, and Inas Clemments of Liberty are siblings of my mother. My dads parents are buried @ Green River Valley Baptist church while my mother's parents are buried @ Middleburg. When I was a boy I watched The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance @ the Kentuckian Theater in Liberty, It still remains as one of my favorite movies. Sam Wilkerson was an old man who seemed to be present @ every movie. People would shout at him about him owing them money and say "Hey Sam, Where's that nickel you owe me?" Sam who was not fully adult intellegent would roar out during the the movies and charge up the aisles searching for his accusors. I drove him home one time after I began driving and he seemed appreciative but expected me to come back later for more free taxi service.
