I agree on the second marriage certificate!!!! Unfortunately I'm having a hard time locating ANY kinds of records pertaning to them. Doesn't really surprise me too much, my Grandmother, Maybel Aileen Wheeler (Sallie Ann Carr's daughter by Willis Garret Wheeler) was the first female to be literate in her family, so there wasn't many records kept.

That very well may be your "Etta", they do sound alike. If I can find time in the next day or so I'll look this one up to see if it is actually a female with the maiden name of Brown. Also, the age is off by about a year, so sounds like a real possibility. Yvonne

She isn't yours. Her maiden name was Hardy & it did actually say Cary, not Carr on the death cert. It's not too unusual if the husband & wife are on the same stone for her to have her maiden name listed also. Now if she is on a seperate stone that might be something to question. Would be nice if you had his 2nd marriage certificate, that might answer some questions. Also, pictures of the tombstones might add some info. Yvonne

A freind of mine saw the post and looked in a Cem book she had for Casey County and posted the following: "Casey Co., KY. 1806-1977 shows a CARR Family Cemetery listed on page 388 Carr Edward B., 1894-1934 Etta Brown 1868-1914 Joseph W. 1868-1936 Robert T. ,1898-1927 I strongly believe that this is them. However it does make me wonder a couple of things, since it lists her on her tombstone as "Etta Brown" were they ever legalily married? If they were married wouldn't it list her as a Carr or atleast Brown-Carr? The dates don't make since if Etta died in 1914, then Pearl & Joseph probably couldn't have been married in 1909. Lastly, I have never been able to locate any death certificate for her, so I wonder how & where she died. The never ending questions of genealogy!

Cary?(maybe shd be Carr?) in the Casey Co. Death database, died 4/23/1913, she was 40. Cert#09681. I looked @ the 1930 census for Joseph W. & Pearl, said they were married in 1909 but we know that was wrong if Etta was in the 1910 census with J.W. Just a suggestion to look @ that death cert. to see if she was a Brown. Yvonne
