Thanks Sonny. Have a list of obit. I'd like to have, if there was one. Will have to get a list together. Jenny

Could someone with Ancestry.com look at the 1860 Boyle Co. KY census for Jacqueline Ambler Lewis? Jacqueline was an early resident of Casey Co. KY. He is in 1810 census. In 1850, he is at the top of the page with a Frances Fowler, age 34, and female. There is a Mary that is below Frances. I can't make out Mary's last name. It appears to be Savier or Navier. The loops in the names are something else to figure out. Jacqueline shows as Jacqueline A. Lewis. In 1870, he shows as Jackerline Lewis and living by himself--or so it appears. Thanks, Shari

Sonny, Thanks for the White and Wells file. I have tried for a long time to make some kind of connection to Thomas White and Tabitha Dye to my George White. Thomas was not mentioned in George White's will in 1824 as a son. I have found many connections to Benjamin Borden and Zeruiah Winters, but need to do some research on them. Zeruiah Winters m. Joseph Wright after Benjamin Borden died. I need to research the Wright lines in Casey to see if I can find some kind of connection there. I don't think Zeruiah was young enough to have children with Joseph Wright. Deb, thanks for the info on Mercer and Boyle Co. KY. I am still waiting for land records from the KY Land Office. I want to go through that info before I order anything else. I have ordered for a James White and Catherine/Katherine. They had a Poor Person's Act land grant in Lincoln Co. KY---which appears to become Casey. One Nathaniel Evans was appointed as a trustee to Catherine. James White was the assignee. Catherine then assigned land to John Bentley, but it was stopped. Then, one Benjamin White had land on Fishing Creek in Casey Co. KY in 1807-1808. It shows his assignee as a Mr. White. Then, there are several George Whites with land from 1800 to 1806. The George White right under Benjamin shows with land in Casey on Fishing Creek---and the date was June 25, 1787. So, I am thinking that Mr. White was actually one George White---and he later assigned land to Benjamin. The next George White appears with 150 acres in Lincoln Co. on Rolling Fork. A White is still the assignee of that land. On July 9, 1800, there is George White with land in Lincoln Co. on Rolling Fork. Assignee was M. Marshall (assumed to be Markham Marshall). The last entry for a George White was 30 July 1806 for 150 acres on Rolling Fork. I just need to figure out if there was just one George White----or several George Whites. I have the 1814 Gaines tax list page that shows George White with 150 acres assigned by Jonathan Flourney/Flournoy. Will just have to wait to see what the KY Land Office sends in re to these men. I have a feeling it will not be much other than what I have typed. Maybe someone will recognize something. I know some of the assignees to land were land speculators and resold it. There might be no connection at all to the assignee. I have since figured out that most of the men mentioned in George's will as executors, appraisers, etc., have heavier connections to the lines of Jacqueline Ambler Lewis, Robert T. Lewis, and Jane E. Lewis. William Minor shows as one of the Executors, but which one was he? He also shows as William Miner. I know the Minors had children with Hutchings as middle names. Would anyone have any idea what the surname of Thomas LOOCKE actually was in 1810-1820 Casey Co. KY. He shows as a neighbor of George White. Joseph Johnston was also a neighbor in 1810, but does not show in 1820. One Jacob Johnston appears in will as an appraiser. The very same documents show Johnston as Johnson and Johnston in the documents. So, I don't know if Jacob was Jacob Johnson or Jacob Johnston---and whether Thomas Hutchinson was Thomas Hutchings. Two various spelling for him in the same document. I am making one last attempt through land records. If I can't get some solid info from them, I think my genealogy times are over. Hate to say that. Sorry about rehashing some of this. Thought someone might be new to the list and see something. It boggles my mind that George White had 15 children----and I seem to be the only one looking for him. Andrew, Patsy, William, Eson (m. Cyrena Coulter), Ely, Nathan, George Washington, John, James, Catherine, Esther, Isabel, Nancy, Sally, and Polly. Shari

Mercer County was formed in 1785, Boyle in 1842 ........... Hope this helps Debbie Cooper Indiana
Sonny, Thanks for sending me you Stanton file. I sure wish good old George White had not died in 1824. There is not much of a paper trail for him. I have to do a process of elimination with names. Can someone tell me something about this. I received the will of George White and some other documents from Harrodsburg-Mercer Historical Research library. I was lucky enough to get the indenture paper of my George Washington White ion 6 Sept 1824 to Elijah Webster. He d. in 1826 in Mercer Co. KY. I sent back to the library for other indenture papers for other sons of George White (d. 17 Feb 1824). I was sent a letter stating that they did not have this info at their library. Well, I had gotten the other things from the library pertaining to George White, who lived in Forkland, Casey Co. Ky, when he died. Would some of these papers be in Mercer and Lincoln Co. KY? George Washington White was my 2nd great grandfather. I am sure he first m. Lucy Ann Baker in Owens Co. IN in 1846---then Sarah Meloni Turner in Crawford Co. IL in 1851. I have no proof for Lucy. There was a "no return" for marriage for them. I am thinking they were both legal age and info would be slight---if I did find a record. I plan to write to Owen Co. IN. George White's will was probated in Mercer Co. Court in March of 1824, but he was living in Forkland, Casey Co. KY. I thought Mercer formed from Lincoln and Casey about 1848. What am I missing? All I know for sure at this point is that he was m. to Eunice Dungan in Washington Co. VA on 12 Feb 1795---and several Dungans were in Pulaski Co. KY----and some Borden lines. One John Dungan was in Mercer Co. KY in 1810. One Galen E. White m. in Casey Co. KY to Emily Jane Spaw. Could there be some relationship here with Isaac White and Ann Reed White----came from Pulaski Co. KY and is in 1820 Casey Co. KY census. George Washington White's documents (in IL) show his father was b. in NC. George was at least 55 in 1820 Casey Co. KY. So he had to have been from 1765 and back. Thanks, Shari
It is my deduction that William G. Bailey and Jack Bailey are one and the same. Looking at the Census reports - The 1880 and 1900 census reports show our William Bailey and William G. Bailey as living with Ellen and various sets of children. Then in 1910, he is listed as Jack but still with Ellen and always as some form of shoemaker. The birth dates and places through the various census reports remain pretty close to the same. I believe that the 1910 census enumerator simply used his nick name "Jack" instead of a more formal William. Also William George and Ellen Bailey are listed together on the headstone at Green River Christian Church Cemetery (although the stone is too new to be an original). So far I haven't found any references to William G.'s father. Could someone tell me if they have any connections in Casey Co. KY to Henry Stanton and Ann Borden? I don't have a lot of info on them. Trying to make connection to George White (still) I know there was a Thomas Sharp who was a witness to the will of Benjamin Borden in Orange Co. NC in 1743. I believe the will was probated later in time. I am thinking all these lines connected to Casey Co. KY. Found a lot of info in Chalkey's Chronicles (Borden and other surnames) at VA USGENWEB. For those who do not know, these can be found at the very bottom of the county listing pages (shown in color). There are 3 indexes of the chronicles and it takes time reading. The Branson line also married into the Borden line with Thomas Branson to Rebecca Borden. I am thinking the name of Branson was Bransom in Casey Co. KY 1810. I may be out on a limb here. Thanks, Shari
These two articles were taken from a book "Todd County Ky Family Histories". Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas, page 558: "Samuel Coleman of Todd Co., Ky, a gentleman who bore the distinction of having served seven years in the Colonies War for Independance and after that struggle of having settled in Kentucky and becoming a pioneer; his death took place in the county of his adoption at an early age." Certified Copy of Family Court records in F. C. D. A. Library: "Samuel Coleman was born in Albemarle County, Virginia in 1752. He entered service from Albemarle Co., Va and maintained Albemarle Co as his resodence all the time he was in the Revolutionary War. He was a little over twenty years of age and served for seven years in the Virginia Continental Line, being discharged in 1783." Question: F. C. D. A. Library - Is this the DAR library in Washington, D. C.?? Would appreciate it if someone would really explain that statement about family court records. Also, I don't think Samuel was born in 1752. I think he was born a few years later. Judith was the first child born to James and Elizabeth. James "Jerry" Coleman. Where did the Jerry come from?? Sure would appreciate comments, negative or otherwise. Earl --- Earl Coleman --- earlcoleman@earthlink.net --- EarthLink: It's your Internet.
