Thanks for sharing this with us! It was a wonderful article to read. Sometimes we forget how much has been sacrificed for each of us. One of my uncles served in the military. His mom, my grandma, was from Casey County, as were her parents and on back. Thanks again! Sheree Kemp Angus Greeley, Colorado

Can't seem to locate the message from someone looking for Henson/Casey data. I posted a message saying I would look for data when home in Dec....Since then I have fired up an old desktop down here in AZ and found the file with the Henson data....For James Strange Henson I have printed out 6 pages of data....a file for his father, including JSH, takes 8 pages. If you are interested I will USPS these data if you post an address. Data is not in a format to attach to an e-mail... Old Hal

Noted your message regarding the Henson Family of Casey Co....My Maternal Grandmother was Serena Henson Rainwater, wife of Daniel Franncis Rainwater....My Mother, Ruth Verna Rainwater, 1901-1988, was born Mintonville, Casey Co....I am currently away from home where majority of my date is, and am working on a laptop, but would be willing to exchange any Henson data when home in Mid-Dec....Have FTM on this computer but limited with battery for a few days....What information are you looking for? I have your "Strange Henson" in the Ged-com with the Rainwaters... Old Hal, enjoying some rays in Sun City, AZ!
I worked this up kind of hurriedly last night to try to help.......I was working from the Christopher Lanham born Jan 1859 Casey County, son of Green B. Lanham and Nancy. since not my ancestral line, I am happy to take additions or corrections, I have a lot of lines connected to my Davenport, Combest, Patterson, Riggins lines of Casey County. Good Morning, Sonny, you and I have emailed before, Ada was my great aunt. I am on my way out of town today and will be back Sunday. When I get back I'll see what I can find in my mom's box. Dixie, I feel like I may know you by name. I won't ask your age but I will ask what time period you were in Carthage, if you don't mind. Have a great weekend everyone! Hello, again, Sonny: Here is the answer to your question. Quoted from my Cincinnati Friend. ""The bar at 69th & Vine was the Ada Cafe and the other one N. on the corner was Wall's Corner (70th & Vine). This is so funny, as when my Uncle Ernie was home on furlough during WWII he stayed w/us and frequented both these bar's. He's the sweetest guy in the world but was a hell-raiser -- got in fights and put his fist thru the Ada window. "" Thanks for the memory. I do remember the place being there from my trips back to the area. I was never there, but my friend lived just across the block. Dixie (SCOTT)
Hello, Sonny: It has been a long time... I am working on an answer for you. I was born right down the street (Vine) in Carthage, (now Cincinnati Incorporated) OH. I now live in CA, but I have a friend that grew up just three blocks away, and is still in that area. I should have an answer for you soon. I am just waiting for her reply. Later: Dixie (SCOTT)
I took a memory trip the other day. If anyone is researching Luther Coleman of Casey Co., Ky. & his wife Ada Bell Cravins of Moreland, Ky., I will share some information with you. Luther & Ada opened a bar in Cincinnati, O. at 69th. & Vine, the bar was torn down in the mid 80's. I serviced the vending equipment ( juke box, cig. machine, pinball, pool, & etc. for years, and didn't know the bar had belonged to my family. Am trying to find pictures of the bar at this time. Luther's family owned & operated the Coleman Bowling Lanes in Fairfield, about 5 miles north of the bar. Most of Luther's family are buried in the Oak Hills Cemetery. If anyone has any other information, I'll appreciate you input. James "Sonny" Coleman PC. Box 114 Yosemite, Ky. 42566 606-787-1719
