have you found maples, bunch, burton, lowry, logue, curry in your collections?
I'm looking for any pictures of the swinging bridge that went from down town Yosemite to East Yosemite. I've got about 700 MB of obituaries finished from the Casey Co. news papers that I got in Cincinnati. Still have stack over twenty feet to go. If one works at it, one can do 75 scans an hour. I may be finished by spring. James "Sonny" Coleman P.O. Box 114 Yosemite, Ky. 42566 phone #606-787-1719 house #7179 East Ky. 70 in beautiful down town Yosemite

I don't know what the date was but a Neely man took a shot at the Confederates marching thru Casey Co. They pursued him and I believe they hung him. He wasn't the only one killed that day. I got my info from my father years ago and the story is in one of Hazel Clarkson's books. She wrote two sets of books. One on the Lynn family and one on the Cockrans. You can ask somebody at thhe Casey Co Library. Judy

Hi Suzanne, I know the answer to question number one. Neely's Gap is located on Highway 78 between Highway 49 and Hustonville, KY. I have no idea about the second question, but some of the other readers may. In a message dated 12/19/2006 9:46:30 A.M. Does anyone know about a Casey Co. location called "Neeley/Neely Gap"? 2. Does Nov. 4, 1862 have any significance in the civil War history of Casey Co.? Read the whole email below and thanks for any help given! A researcher wrote; I have a wonderful old walking stick which has been in my family for many years. It is inscribed with date "Sour Wood Cut at Neeley Gap Casey County KY Nov 4, 1862". My Grandfather had it for as long as I can remember. He died in 1972 in West Texas and I have had it since. I never asked him the story behind it and how it came into his possession. Alas. I think there were some major Civil War happenings in your area at the time, but this stick may be unrelated to the war. Is there still a Neeley Gap?
