Yes, George Tyler Buis is my great uncle. He was my grandfather Marcus Linzy Buis' oldest brother. His name is properly spelled Buis. However, I understand that some branches of the family over the centuries have had different spellings for the name. My father, Jesse Francis Buis, now 80 years old, speaks very fondly of "Aunt Cordie". He loves to tell family stories. Might I ask about your family connections? I am researching Buis, Douglas, Elliott, and other related branches. My grandfather, Marcus Linzy Buis, was born in Rich Hill in 1886. He was the son of Jesse Henderson Buis and Charity Elliott. I have quite a lot of information on the Buis name, although I am not sure I can ever get enough. I will try to correspond faithfully with anyone with similar interests. Jim Buis Lebanon, Illinois
Hi Thanks anyway. Wilma
Hi Wilma. Sorry I don't see any listings in Davie's County. Don't even see it on my map. Need to dig out a better map, I guess. But there were a lot of people without specific locations, in the family also. Pleased to make your acquaintance- Christen aka: Newbie

Regarding the Casey Co., KY gedcom project - Thought I would pass on a couple of tips from hard learned lessons after several years of doing computer genealogy work. 1. Larry, You might want to ZIP the file before sending. That will make it smaller and most folks can use ZIP now a days. 2. I create a new folder for the gedcom so I will know where it is. If it is zipped I unzip it into the same folder and when I read it into my program I tell the program to store the files in that same folder. That way if I want to wipe it out it is easy to do so. 3. DO NOT read the gedcom into your existing database. This may cause many duplications and create lots of problems. The first time I read in a couple hundred duplications I learned this lesson! 4. When someone sends me a gedcom I create a new database with the name fo the person who sent it or something descriptive. Then I read the new file into it. that lets me check it out and if there are portions I want to add to my main database I can create a new gedcom of the section I want to add, not the whole thing. 5. Remember the gedcom is just a text file arranged in a special order. You can edit the beginning and end to wipe out special formatting characters if it won't read into your program the first time. Don't use a word processor. Use the basic text editor to do this, a word processor will add characters. If it won't file with the .ged extension let it save it however it will then go into your folder and change the name of the file there to "whatever.ged". Hi Everyone! I'm new. Signed up last night. Will probably just watch for a while and see how things are done. My lines in and around Casey are: Stallings, Hall, Sweeney, McLain, Leeman, Phillips, Gardner, Slack, Peak, Beall, Scanland, Beam, Baxter, Burgen and a few others I'd have to look up. Glad to meet you all, and would love to hear from you. I'd be interested if there is a place to post pictures. I have quite a few and would love to find a place where people help identify pictures.
Dear Larry, I know you have undertaken a big project. Would it be possible for you to look to see if Spradlin's or Knight's are listed? Thanks, Vicky
