It has been short sleeve weather until this morning and a light jacket was needed in the A.M.only. Lightening and rain last night. Beautiful today on the way out. Redbud looking great and dogwood beginning to bloom. Not so nice here at home. We have freezing rain and possible snow tomorrow. Motorist are being advised to say home tonight. While researching my illusive Manoah Taylor of Casey Co. at the Western Reserve Historical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, I came across the following book: Pensioners on the Roll, January 1, 1883 - Giving the name of each pensioner, the cause for which pensioned, the post office address, the rate of pension per month, and the date of original allowance, as called for by Senate Resolution of December 8, 1882, Volume V. The following names were included under Casey County (but I don't have the entire list for Casey County): Syntha Williams, Elias Johnson, Elbert S. Wells, Sally R. Martin, Elizabeth A. I hesitate to bring up another Mills but seeing all those come through my e-mails, I just couldn't resist. Elizabeth Mills and Benjamin Sharp are both buried at Brush Creek Christian Church. Her tombstone reads: Elizabeth M. wife of Benj. Sharp born May 13 1811 died Oct 1 1890. I know NOTHING about Elizabeth's parents. Does anybody know who her parents or siblings might be?She was the 3rd wife of Benjamin and the mother of 7 boys and 2 girls. One of her dau. was Maranda Sharp who married James Taylor Rigney. These are my great grandparents. Thank you, Judy Fisk
Okay, so either I got their HIGHEST rates (maybe they saw me coming), or I remember wrong. Probably the latter. It was the Fall though, and I know many people love to go to see the Fall colors. Christen
