    3. Donna, If you find out there's a reprint I would be interested too!! Thanks, Pat Oxley -----Original Message----- From: MRS DONNA C ELROD [mailto:CVKB52A@prodigy.com] Sent: Thursday, May 27, 1999 5:01 PM To: KYCASEY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYCASEY-L] Casey Co Genealogy Book w/Cemeteries In 1994 my husband and I spent 4 delightful days in Liberty, at the Library and courthouse, cemeteries and backroads collecting not just records and copies of files, but tombstone pictures and a sense of the land where my ancestors lived. We could not have done it without the help of a wonderful book, published, I believe by Casey County Library. It listed virtually every cemetery and directions to them and who was buried in which cemetery. I located my great, great- great, and even gr-gr-gr grandparents graves, thanks to this book. I tried to purchase this book, but the Casey Co librarian told me it was out of print. I was wondering if it were back in print, and if so where I could purcase one. If not, is there any hope of one coming out soon? It was very thick to my recollection, and extremely accurate. I would love a copy! 3. Yep, I can do marriage look-up, love to do them in fact! The only SHUTTERWORTH groom I could find is as follows: Shutterworth, Phillip, 9 Dec. 1893, Fanny Edward, book 1 page 43. The only thing a paper copy would tell you is who married the couple. I looked on the film and this couple married in a Methodist Episcopal Church and was married by a Richard somebody. This one is on the very bottom of the film and Richard's last name is not readable. 3. Hi Pat-- Just returned home last evening from my Kentucky journey. Spent time in both Casey and Fleming Counties. Had wonderful results. Thanks so much for your help. The primary family names included in my files are: TOMS, GILPIN, THOMAS, FRENCH, ROBERTS, CUNDIFF, in Casey County; and HUMPHRIES, THACKER, CALVERT, LUMAN/LEWMAN, and RIGDON in Fleming County, Ky. Some files are well documented; others are less so. All, however, may offer a good starting point for those researching the same family lines. I have attempted to give credit in the "notes" section to all those helpful people who provided information on the various lines. The file could not have been done without them. I feel sure that some errors exist within some of the files since records are a "hit and miss' proposition in Virginia and Maryland. I would appreciate anyone reviewing the files to a) identify areas where they disagree with what I have; and/or b) help me fill in the blanks where data are missing. Again, my deepest appreciation to you and all the library personnel who make visits to Casey County such a pleasure. Also, my mother and I LOVED the "Bread of Life Cafe". Regards Annette Smiley

On December 29, 1969, a son, Alexander Pruitt Brown, was born in Liberty, Casey Co. Another son, Harlan Brown, was my great-grandfather. 3. Hello Casey County Group: Just a note to tell you all that Annette Smiley visited the Casey County Library last week and brought us a disc of her family files. These were done on the Family Tree Maker program. I printed out the information on the families for the Family Files and the disc labeled Casey County 99 will be in the cabinet as soon as Noreen finished the paperwork. Among some of the family trees are: Tomes, Humphries, Gilpin and now my memory fails me. Please Annette fill us in on the remainder of the names of families. I don't have the list here at home, but there were about ten family trees that you will all enjoy. Please remember to send the Casey County Library your family tree information and include your references. Our Family Files are growing. Remember the Fair to be held here in Casey County on July 22, 23, and 24th. We will have a program in the Floral Hall to collect genealogy information from everyone who will donate there family trees. We hope to get loads of information from the local people with stories about the past. Mr Larry Witt plans to put all this additional information on a CD ROM combined with all the information on Casey County people he has already collected. We are hoping the Library will be incharge of selling copies of the CD at a nominal fee for distribution. Larry states he already has 42,000 names on the collection. Wouldn't it be great if we could make it 100,000 ? Will keep you all informed about FAIR plans and news. Kind Regards, Pat Brooks

    2. Thanks. Do you want your curiosity buds stirred up? We are finding some interesting things about the Goodes. One is that John, father of Fleming, may be son of the famous (John) Daniel Goode of G. B. Goode's book Virginia Cousins. I have never believed that the John who was given to Daniel was his. Too young. But, Fleming's John would fit perfectly. I'll not live long enough to straighten out all of this but am glad to see a few others are taking hold rather than accepting Virginia Cousins as gospel. The Alfred I am asking about is earlier than yours. I think Larry knows of him. Hazel

    2. To Christy and Larry, who did the Alfred of Marion County, son of Charles marry? The Alfred that I was given as son of my William married (1) Mary Ann Nixon 9 June 1845 and (2) Jane Preston 17 May 1852, both in Boyle County KY. Were there two Alfreds in that time period? I cannot find two. Hazel

And they, of course, were not those I needed to search. Can you tell me if this is still true? I am primarily interested in Casey and Lincoln, but have some people in Grant, Harrison, and Pulaski. Thanks, Fran

    2. Hi Hazel - Sorry, I don't know about an Alfred Goode, son of Charles. John Alfred Goode, son of James T. Goode, married Mary Adrienne Hayden in 1878, in Daviess Co., KY. Alfred Goode, son of Fleming Goode, married Catherine Wethington in 1819 in Adair County. He was also married to Mary Ward and Mary Wayne. Christy

    2. Hi Larry-You might be right on the birth date of John Alfred. I have both dates in my files, and now I don't know which one is right! Wilma's sheet has the same date you have, and she is descended from him, so that's probably the right one. Christy
