Here are the three that I have. I had thought there was an earlier one that was hardbound and looked much like the one with the graves. Am I wrong? Is this all? 1. Casey County, Kentucky, 1806 - 1983, A Folk History Including Communities and Cemeteries (Revised). 2. Casey County, Kentucky 1806 Settlement and Early Development 3. Casey County, Kentucky First Court Records 1807 - 1817. Now, is that all? Or, was there another - the one that I gave away some 15 years ago? Thanks. Hazel
Hi Hazel, David Roland Jones was born 1824 in Pendleton District, SC. He married Cassander Bridwell (Breedwell) on 28 Dec 1843 in Meigs Co., TN. He died, (according to our family historian) on 20 Aug 1863 in Rollings, Casey Co., KY. He did not die in the Civil War but from some other sort of accident. He and Cassander had 7 children and they were all born in McMinn Co., TN between 1844 and 1852. Seems like they moved around alot!! I have no idea when or why David and Cassander moved to Casey Co., KY, they seemed to have put down some roots in Rhea Co., TN the all of a sudden they are in KY. I know after David died, Cassander moved back to Meigs Co. TN and married a man named AJ Pritchett in 1867. I hope with this information, MAYBE, you can find something, anything on him!!!! Thanks for your help. Barbara
I have been trying to follow the discussion about Casey County books by Gladys Cotham Thomas. I am not certain whether this one has been mentioned. Casey County, Kentucky 1806, Settlement and Early Development (Tax. Land. Slave Records, Acts of Kentucky General Assembly). It was published in 1983. I have a copy of this book, and if anyone would like for me to do a lookup just contact me.
Need any info on parents of John Franklin Cole, DOB 1861, DOD 1936 POB Casey Co. And Victoria Ann Wheeler, DOB 1861, DOD 1902, place of birth unk. Any info on these families will be appreciated. NCole34807@aol.com Norris Cole
Hello: Noreen Gentry at the library is keeping the list of names of those people who wish to have a copy of the reprint of the Casey County History 1806 etc. Just drop her a line at the library. I have been sending her copies; that is forwarding the requests to her for the list. This may help to encourage Gladys to get on with the show.......... Gladys' book " Casey County, KY. First Court Records, 1807 - 1817 is on sale at the library for $25.00 and I believe 3.00 postage. The address of the library is Casey County Library, 238 Middleburg Street, Liberty, KY. 42539. I won't be back to give this information to Noreen for the next week, I and husband are off to Maryland for our grandson's graduation from high school. Have to brag on him, he has been appointed to the Air Force Academy in Colo. Springs, Colo. See you all at the library when I get home. Kind Regards, Pat Brooks
Hi Hazel, I would like to take your up on your offer to do a cemetery look - up. Can you find a David Roland Jones in one of those Cemeteries? I'm trying to find my GrGrGrandfather. Thanks, Barbara L (Jones) Richardson
As long as you are asking for reprints, there is another that Mrs. Thomas did besides "Casey County KY 1806-1983, a Folk History" (with the cemeteries). I cannot recall the title but I have regreted for years giving mine away. Does anyone remember it? I do have the cemetery one if anyone wants a lookup. Hazel
Ah, now! I won't argue about Casey County's library since I have not seen it. But, if you want to see "one of the best", come to MidContinent in Independence MO. Now, there is a library!!! We are the Fort Wayne of Missouri and, personally, I think better than even they :-). This is not just local pride talking. Come and see. Hazel
Hi there, I also have some information on the following family: >>V.John {M.} m. Mary Chelf (originally from Hara, OK) Family of 10? A. Kenneth, Ok. City, OK B. Lucilla C. Florence<< The CHELF family is my line and I understand that John was also married to Cora CHELF (this is unverified). If you would like more on this family, let me know. I have the pension files of Mary's father who is William Presley CHELF who is my great grandfather. If anyone has any information on this Cora CHELF, I would appreciate it very much . I have children listed for James Beard and Mary Chelf as follows: Francis Matra Lucille unknown female Florence Mae (Roupe) Beard Aug 13, 1890 Agnes Ellen July 23, 1892 willie Fay July 26, 1896 No known children of his marriage with Cora Chelf. Not even sure he was married to her but according to my sources, he was married to her also. Her father was Perry Alonzo CHELF and her mother was Tom Anne Goode. I would really appreciate any information or corrections. Also, Mary Chelf was born in Casey Creek, KY and died in Choctaw, OK. according to my sources. I have John Beard as having died in New Mexico. If this is incorrect, please let me know as I do not have documentation of where they died. I do have information about Mary's place of birth and parents and her marriage to John. Thanks, Pat

Patty, I would like any dates and places you have on John M. and Mary Beard, their parents, and children. Thanks, Joyce
Well....I certainly think mentioning this book on the internet was a grand idea!!! Pat...thanks for the information you provided....I believe I did sign up for a reprint while at the library in 94....but since so many of us (me included) have no idea if or when we will be able to sign up in person at the library,,, do you think if we "signed up" over the internet and the library kept a tally of all of us out here that were willing to purchase the reprint, it would help get it reprinted more quickly?? Just a thought.....I must say, Casey Co. has one of the BEST genealogical libraries I've been to in any state. Thorough, and careful with their records, as well. I was just miserable when we ran out of time and had to go. What beautiful countryside, too!! (We went in September!!!) Whatever possessed my ancestors to move away? (Although, the one that left, wound up coming back!!) SURNAMES: Henson, Gadberry, Shackelford, Baldock, Embree, and many many more...

This type of question may have some value to others on the list. Just pretend for a moment that the KYCASEY individual list and the digest list are two totally separate lists. At any time you can subscribe to one or the other or both! If you are subscribed to the individual list you can unsubscribe from it at any time. If you are subscribed to the digest list you can unsubscribe from it at any time. If you are subscribed to both then you can unsubscribe from one and you will remain subscribed to the other. The proper format for these commands is: To Subscribe to the individual list, send a message to KYCASEY-REQUEST-L@rootsweb.com In the body of the message type one word only, SUBSCRIBE To Subscribe to the digest list, send a message to KYCASEY-REQUEST-D@rootsweb.com In the body of the message type one word only, SUBSCRIBE Notice that the only difference between the two lists is in the address. To remove yourself from the individual list send a message to the address KYCASEY-REQUEST-L@rootsweb.com In the body of the message type one word only, UNSUBSCRIBE To remove yourself from the Digest list send a message to the address KYCASEY-REQUEST-D@rootsweb.com In the body of the message type one word only, UNSUBSCRIBE The address KYCASEY-REQUEST-L@rootsweb.com or KYCASEY-REQUEST-D@rootsweb.com are to be used for subscription commands only. This is a robot that only understands the proper commands. Humans do not read these messages. That is the reason any extra words or signature lines are not to be used. To send a message to the list send it to KYCASEY-L@rootsweb.com These instructions will work on any list on rootsweb. Thanks, Bill KYCASEY listowner
Bill you are so good to us! Of coarse we should all know how to do that! How patient of you. If I were you I would save that, and store it for later. It's bound to come up again, that someone doesn't know how to unsubscribe and gets their dander up! Cheers! Christen
I would like to add my name to the book of cemetery records. Thanks, joyceseb@pldi.net
