Larry, Thanks for the info, but because of the dates involved, it's impossible that the John H. Hicks that I am looking for died in 1974. His daughter Malinda Ann Hicks (my grandmother who was married to Robert Perry Ward) was born 13 October 1889 and was orphaned at an early age. She is buried in a Catholic cemetery in Cincinnati; her grandmother Burnetta Wethington is buried in St. Bernard's old cemetery in Clementsville, but where are John H. Hicks and his wife Lorinda Wethington Hicks? There have been many inquiries lately about the family of John Lewis/Louis Bland. I had not really committed to memory this man because he was the brother of my g-grandmother. I went back to my original info and according to Charles Bland, a noted authority on the Bland family the family is as follows: John Lewis married Mary/Polly Belton and then Nancy Marple...he had a total of eleven children by these two woman. John Lewis Bland, b. January 15, 1827 in Casey County, KY m. Mary/Polly Belton b. abt. 1833 on August 24, 1849 in Casey, Ky. Mary/Polly was the daugher of Abner Belton. May 6, 1932, Casey, Ky and married James William Stayton December 11, 1884 in Taylor County, KY. I have John Lewis Bland's family back to emmigration. He was the son of Thomas who was the s/o Samuel who was the s/o John, etc. If you will email me directly, I will send you an attachment of this family line. I would appreciate any additional info would want to send me. Joyce [email protected]
The information I have on John Hicks is: died 1974 and is buried in Gum Lick Cemetery, Atterson, Casey Co., Ky. I do not have any info on Lorinda as to birth date or death date. I would appreciate any update. I have not assumed that because John is buried in Gum Lick Cemetery that Lorinda is also buried there. Larry
Christy, thank you very much. Had a crash in December, trying to get all my sights back. How very nice! Thanks a bunch. Don't think I have any one in there. We were definitely the poor folk but any Kentucky history is interesting. My Casey County Davis ancestors are a part of the book "Louisville's First Families" that we have just put online at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/history/ff_louisville If your ancestors were also part of the early KY settlers along with the Boone and Floyd families, you might find some clues to help your research. I had no idea that my Landon Davis and his brother Robert Davis lived in the Louisville area until I ran across this book with it's stories and pictures of the early KY settlers and started searching early Jefferson County tax records. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Renee Bunck, descendant of Robert Davis who was killed by Indians in 1780 near Cumberland Gap. His sons, Robert and Landon, lived most of their lives near Mintonville in Casey County, KY.
