My ggrandparents were Valeria (many spellings) Geraldine Roberts who married Elzia Gilpin about 1885 in Casey County. I don't believe I have run across a Henry Gilpin; however, I have quite a bit of information on my line from Enoch forward which I will share. I am also interested in your Roberts line. I suspect that there is a relationship, but I am not sure where. I do not have a great deal of information on my Valeria, so would be interested in what you know about the family -- if indeed they are the same.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lAB.2ACE/2921 Message Board Post: I'm looking for info on my Grandmother Vell Dora Gilpin's Father's family. Vell Dora (this spelling or one of many others I've found), was born 1/20/1890 in Casey County (this from her daughter's birth certificate). Her parents were Mary Donna Roberts and Henry R. Gilpin (this from her own death certificate). She married Alvin Lesley Floyd (my grandfather) in Kentucky. I have her Mother's (Mary Donna's) lineage, but have not been able yet to go back any farther on Henry R. Gilpin's line. Heresay has it that Vell Dora was 1/4 Cherokee. Which would mean than one grandparent was full blooded. I have not established a Cherokee relationship on her Mother's line, so I think it could be Henry R. Gilpin's Mother. Anyone have data on this query? Thanks, Brenda Geiger

But...for your database, in case it helps: I also have a Roberts/Gilpin connection in KY. My Grandmother's name was Velldora Gilpin (first name is still unproven..I have many forms of it on different paperwork), her parents were Henry R. Gilpin and Mary Donna Roberts (as listed on Velldora's death certificate).I know Velldora was born 1/20/1890 in Casey County. And I believe her parents were born in Kentucky too. I have found the Mary Donna Roberts line...but not the Henry R. Gilpin line. So, if these names come up in your search, and you happen to remember, let me know. Thanks! Brenda Geiger

Celia never married or was her husband dead or was it away at war for her to be in the Elizabeth`s household.Another person some 2 years ago was looking for Sarah with mother Celia.Said Celia got a pension and was in the house hold of Sarah I have tried to contact him but no luck so far.I guess I will have to try to get to Casey Co. sometime and see if there are any marriage records and etc. Ruby
