My info may not be completely accurate on the Gilpin line, only have Walter, so perhaps further digging is in order. If you have the date he died, County, and State, I will look his death certificate up in Bowling Green and see if anything looks familiar. Thanks again. Bob Cron

I just found it ironic that Elijah Wilson performed the marriage for Josiah Wilson. I had a professional researcher dig up some things over the past couple of weeks and he found Elijah and John Wilson in Trace Fork as well as a Josiah. Josiah has been my brick wall for years. On the 1880 census, Josiah says his father is b. VA, and on the 1850 census, Elijah says he is b. KY, also there is no son, Josiah listed, only John F. who is 3 yrs. old in 1850. (1850 Census Casey County is online) but I believe all these Wilson(s) are probably cousins because Thomas Wilson (b. 1765 and m. Elizabeth Wright) had a brother Josiah. Wilson, born November 1833 in Casey Co. He married Susan Brown 03 September 1856, also in Casey County, according to the Marriage Register. The person who performed the marriage ceremony was Elijah Wilson. Was this person Josiah's father? The 1880 Casey Co. Census shows Josiah's occupation as "preacher". Elijah appears in the 1856, 1857, 1858, 1859 and 1860 Tax List in Trace Fork, and there was a Josiah Wilson at that location too, though I have no proof it's MY Josiah Wilson. Does this look familiar? Thanks, Michael

It was addressed in response to a query by Robert D. Cron. As his query was looking for a Walter Gilpin born 1896, married to a Nancy in Pulaski Co in 1917. My Walter was born probably in Casey (near Pulaski), probably in 1895. (These dates are from memory, I can't see the post as I'm typing this). So - hopefully this will get to the appropriate person this time. ? Thanks, Brenda

Isn't it possible that the Nov date is when the bond was issued and that they actually married somewhat later? I could be mistaken, but I don't think that bonds were necessarily issued on the same day that a wedding took place. Maybe somebody else with more historical knowledge about this practice than I have could give you an answer about that.
