To ALL Kentucky descents of our 'Welch' born JAMES T. LEWIS, born in Wales, England & died at Cutshin, Kentucky and who had at least 18 children by two wives Miss Griffon who died in NC & Winedery Henson who bore at least 15 of those children, a notice was sent out last December to relatives known, and a committee was formed to erect a memorial marker in Leslie County. The JAMES T. LEWIS is buried at Wooton, KY at Cutshin Road. The JAMES T. LEWIS Memorial Marker Fund Committee, led by Hayes Lewis, Jack Maggard, and James Lewis all of Hyden, KY have announced that The Ceremonies will be held on JULY 24, 1999, held at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax. Master of Ceremonies will be Reverend Billy Joe Lewis Some sons of James moved their families Northward into Morgan County, Elliott County. Other grandsons moved into Boone County, Indiana in 1820s, Kansas in 1840s, and into Oregon in 1851. Other Grandsons moved into Texas in 1865.
