William Lankston Lewis b. 28 December 1836 Boone Co., Indiana and died on 33 January 1906 in Verdigris Twp., Wilson County, Kansas. 11 January 1860 before War, was Marriage: Emily Catherine Palmer the d/o Jesse Palmer and Rachel Leabo. The marriage was in Boone County, IN. Six Children were born in Boone County, Indiana during and after war years After the War, William Lankston Lewis returned to farming his land, until 1871 move to Kansas where he temporarily was a one term teacher in Wilson County school, but with a growing family needed to farm full-time. He had been popular with his fellow citizens and of the Kansas Verdigris Township and had become a member of the Board. In 1890 appointed census enumerator.
