No, no connection unless your James had a brother ELI. My Eli was born either in Md or VA around 1775 and served in the war of 1812. My line then follows to Lamack who married martha Fultz Cook. Several Williams have contacted me and most did not know of a book "The Williams Family of Eastern Kentucky" which was published by one of the historical societies. A fellow in Texas sent me info on it, but then I found it in the Cincinnati Public Library. It is a good source book for Williams.
