Names of children do not exist in 1810 Kentucky Census FACTS: See Book 1998, Kings of Sheltered Meadows-Roots Tree The claimed born child Martin Lewis had limited data published as relatives were still in search of sources, land deeds, marriage records, death records. Some of the sources claimed have been on the U.S. Film 823,578 and the History of Neosha & Wilson County, Kansas. Other sources have been LDS library films 924,; 823; 578; 570; & 220. Census records of 1900 list confusing information about places of birth for parents. Suggests Martin is not first born child in this Lewis family. UPDATE INFORMATION for book owners of "KINGS" and other interested family. The Author of the Book in 1998, Kings of Sheltered Meadows-Roots Tree,, admits there has been no irrefutable proof uncovered of order of birth, and personal feelings lean to birth year of 1802 for Martin, as parents married in 1796, and statement by Wm. Martin Lewis 1797NC could have been just an error of speech. The fact that Drucilla Dent was from the same Dent family of Southeastern Kentucky Perry County, whom made their way to Indiana, is more food for researchers. Next the 1810. 1820, and 1830 Kentucky census records do not show names for any children nor a child Martin Lewis. Other Contradictions of findings by research: MARTIN left Ashe Co., NC with his parents, at his age 15 or 5. Lived in KY with his parents until age 17 or age 27, year 1819 or 1829 and took a log raft with friends to the Ohio River and entered Indiana at or near present day City of Madison. Made his way to lands of Boone County, Indiana. He may have married within the first three years. Definitive proof exists, but error claims are made he may have children by another woman. Unproved assumptions. Proved claims are he married DRUCILLA DENT b. abt. 1818/1825KY-d.after 1900 census. In 1880 Drucilla was a widow, age reported as 62. (If she was age 62 she was born 1818). We have family claimed birth dates of 1825 & 1829. Death date of Drucilla is Oct. 22, 1901, Advance, Boone Co., IN. Regardless our Drucilla Dent Lewis has (5) Five proven children starting with their marriage on 18 April 1835 in Clinton, Boone County, Indiana. A sixth (6th) child was adopted into the family. MARTIN LEWIS was one of the first people to own land, and one of the first twelve (12) people to serve on a Jury, in Boone County. Fire destroyed records on 11 October 1856. Land records existing are from US, Indiana State and Crawfordsville land district records. There is a Martin Lewis who had a will in Probate dated 1847. It had no children listed. This will has not been proven as our subject: Martin Lewis 1802NC. Another Martin Lewis existed at the same time. There was a Martin Lewis who married a Sarah Johns April 12, 1823 in Estill Co., KY. Martin Lewis (of age 30/40) is living next to Jacob Johns (age 60/70) in 1840 Census. (Indiana) Claims are still unproved if our Martin 1802NC died 1852 or years later. Three more children are claimed for a Martin Lewis from a unproved marriage: a.) Lucinda Lewis; b.) Rachel Jane Lewis; c.) Sarah Jane Lewis; Perhaps these are the Sarah Johns children. ============================================= The land records of Indiana indicate our Martin Lewis & Drucilla, owned five parcels of land starting on 22 October 1833, book 2, 40 acres; 23 March 1835 book 2 an adjoining 40 acres, another adjoining 40 acres, and 36 acres, and 80 acres.
